I AM serious! And I do use emoticons for various reasons as I've explained in my last blog.
Sometimes just to emphasise some emotions and feelings and put a tone to the written word.
Regarding the use of abbreviations I agree as I find it hard to keep up with those myself.
As to your last question........the answer is NO..... ....
I'm not a native English speaker but we seem to get along fine here...don't worry too much about us non native English speaker...
and I'm dead serious too, it's just that nobody is taking me seriously
I can be serious, but I'd rather not be unless I need or have to.
If my wave upsets you, you can give it back.
Don't know if you've noticed but from all the thousands of people on the CS site, it's always the same 30 or 40 people who are writing and commenting on all the blogs. Theye have got to know each other well.
Best to just leave them to it mate
Off with you grumps, who need you anyway
If there is something they do not understand, they ask. This is how they further improve their English.
Many have an amazing grasp of the nuances of English, and you are doing them a disservice by saying otherwise.
and there she goes bang on once more.
Nik, thanks for your concern, I'm sure from now on the use English slugs will be put to consideration...
Welcome to the Blogland!
I don't think that's necessary, please collect those slug pellets again and dump them here in this blog...I'll help sort them out
Actually I have made a lot of serious comments on many other blogs...
I don't mean this in any way as grumpy or putting you guys down in any way, but anyone joining the blogs for the first time or two gets a bit daunted due to the banter between all the regular bloggers. It's like you feel that you are reading a kind of private social group and that you don't belong.
But in actual fact, I've been well accepted..it just needs a bit of persistance.
I think Niko just felt the same as me when I first came on here, so I sympathise with him a bit.
swam. I realise I am an acquired taste(sic), but I don't take it
that seriously.
Thought you were complaining about us, reasons why I said what I did.. you kinda made it sound like we made you feel unwelcome when actually we done the opposite.
in my defence before I jumped the gun, I did ask you first about your previous comment here.
Which of you lot frightened him away
This is just our way of saying " WELCOME"
I spoke too soon
Gee, that was fast!
You are one of the people I thought of in my first post.
Your English is a credit to you and you are constantly learning more. Well done!
You're making me blush but thank you nonetheless...
I've not played online chess in such a long time, I'd actually forgotten it was here... thanks for the reminder
and hope your experience on the site will be great
Sometimes there are interesting blogs that have a serious purpose but some blogs are just entertaining...and yes we like to banter here...
Don't bother, just let them be. I find it cool beeing not native english speaker, for i can get lost in translations any time it suits me.
I am serious here.
Well done Niko...it's much more fun than chess mate! ( wow! I made a pun !! )
