Smart Phones
I recently replaced my Nokia Express Music with a Sony Xperia. I liked the Nokia; it served me well but it was grossly behind times.Mastering the Android system took a day or two and at one stage it had me so consumed that I though I would not bother about my laptop anymore. It opened a new world to me and I spent hours installing new apps and reading books on-line. I loved the way you can restore it to factory setting and start all over again. Wonderful, I thought… until I tried to do some serious browsing. That was when I lost half my interest in it.
When I logged on to CS, the other half went. Sorry, I got too used to the bigger screen and a proper keyboard. I tried to comment on somebody’s blog and half way I gave it up for a bad job. My fingers are too dumb for the small keys on the screen and what I did not misspell, the auto-correct function messed up; in stead of just leaving the good words while correcting my mistakes! Back to my faithful old laptop.
I know a lot of people here use their mobiles on CS and they are probably pretty happy with it, but I did not make it; though I still enjoy reading ebooks with it. Maybe I should have gotten a tablet instead but they are too large and clumsy. After all, I just wanted a new phone; one that can slip into my shirt or jacket’s pocket.
Not that I’m unhappy with the phone. On the contrary, I like it very much. I even use the calendar; something I have never used before. I have Whatsapp going and I’m thinking about installing Skype, even though I don’t like apps like that. Too many people troubling me. I don’t have the patience to sit and text all day.
I have a problem though. I cannot get any memory card to work in it. I checked on the web and it seems to be a general issue with the Xperia. If somebody here got a memory card to work in it, please let me know what make it is.
Have a great day, will ya!

The camera is great in that phone.
Sorry I can't help you about the memory card though
I don't have Skype on my phone either. I hate talking to people

As compare to Nokia
Sony Xperia is Good One
Congrats :Have a nice Day:
We'll have to find a decent translator that can translate Afrikaans speech to something that you can understand. I write my blogs and comments in Afrikaans and then have it translated to English via Google.
That may explain why my blogs don't make sense some days.
Do you think there is software like that?
Yes, now I see the use of having the second camera in front. I thought it was only for selfies. But talking about that, the front camera does not take such good pics as the main camera.
ponyNokia express. Don't give up on using it in CS, it takes some getting use to, but you eventually get there. First time I tried texting on the IPhone I was so I went back to my old phone. First time I tried texting on the IPhone I was so I went back to my old phone. It just took some technique.......It is possible that you went without a memory card. They have massive memory. I did not check the exact capacity but I have many apps and about 800 songs on there and have not even used half the memory.
I tried three memory cards, 8 gb and larger, in it. The first was not seen, the second gave an error when I tried to use it, and the third hanged the phone while booting.
I don't really need a memory card but I'd still like to see it working. In the meanwhile I bought an usb adapter to connect to usb drives. That works well enough. I was quite crazy to see a 5 terabyte external drive working on it.
Don't be so disappointed. We'll work something out, I'm sure.
Yep, I like the phone.
Happy To See You
Stay Blessed nd Contented
Half the problem is with my poor eye-sight. When I have it on a size that I can read, there is very little on the screen and I have to scroll sideways all the time.
I tried both the regular and the mobile site. Don't like the mobile site at all.
Just popped in for a minute. I have to get me some sleep......

Adore
Was already android proficient as I've used a tablet for some years now, I use both for different purposes but do data share so both have internet connection
I do find the tablet more user-friendly in terms of typing but my fingers are probably smaller than yours Cat
I often take my laptop to bed with me. I tried to watch a movie on the phone, but really, it is too small. I have not tried the GPS on the phone yet. I have a loose standing one and it serves me well enough. Besides, I grew up here and will never get lost in Cape Town.
And all that celebrating?
P.S Just wanna show off my freshly manicured nails
So!
And besides! As far as watching a movie on them. You can use a Scream Increaser. It makes the scream enlarge the movie. I have one! I don't use it much. Because I have Cable and free movies and paid movie channels.
Hehee!
Funny enough, I don't have big hands. I suppose it is just a matter of getting used to it. I did find that the keyboard is a bit wider and easier to use when I turn the device sideways.
But I love the Android system. Especially the ease of configuring it's desktop. When I compare it with my sister's Microsoft phone, they have a lot to learn. But then maybe she's cluttering it. I always have to tidy up her laptop's desktop.
I turn it sideways whenever the app supports it.
For the non crunchies, I have recently upgraded to the new Bakelite phone with integrated speaker and microphone, I have no memory or camera like some Foreign models but it serves its purpose.
Yep i have such small hands too. Only mine are full of wrinkles. I had an old man's hands when I was still young. Runs in the family.
I don't think you understand the problem, the screen is too small and nothing can make it larger,
We don't have cable TV in South Africa. We get it via satellite. Nice to watch all those movies on the TV, but when it gets late or cold, the laptop comes to bed. Remember, it is winter here at the moment.
I remember those. That is perhaps why I still see all these other apps on a phone as gimmicks. To me a phone is a phone. But I'm changing slowly; I always been slow to change.
I do understand!
Just take 2, of your fingers. And pull the screen bigger.
Maybe! You should take a smartphone class on YouTube. And it is free too!
You don't. The image already fills the screen. It is the physical size of the screen that is too small for me. I know how the phone works and you can pull your fingers across the screen until you're blue in the face but the screen won't get any larger. Enlarging the image is not the answer because then I only see a part of the entire image. One cannot watch movies like that.
Then You Need A Bigger Smartphone.
They Sale Those Too!
I think the next step is a tablet and I don't want that; too large to carry with you and not fitting in my shirt or jacket's pocket. I'm happy to use the phone as a phone and watch my movies on the TV or the laptop.
True, mine is a bit heavy on the battery as well. It needs to recharge every day. But as you said, it does a lot of things my other phone could not do. I got used to it very quickly.
I planned to keep my old phone but I let it go to the first decent offer I got. Never even looked back.
The only thing that bothered me was the price. I could have bought a new laptop with some change to take home.
You people are lucky. With our exchange rate we pay through our ears for imports. our finance minister deserve a Nobel prize... in chemistry. He and his predecessors during the last 22 years manage to convert our currency into a ball of poo.
I will use it for map guidance I always get lost and need to find my way home
Maybe a few bird calls so i know who is calling to me.
It should arrive after check but I have moved so much they need 5 years addresses
