Welcome to South Africa.

We are so fortunate to have 11 official languages. How many do you have? We can think in one language, sanitize our thoughts in another, express ourselves in a third and deny our statements in yet another and still have 7 other languages in reserve. We are probably the most politically correct nation in the universe. We don’t talk about ‘black-outs’ anymore when the power fails; we refer to it as ‘previously lit’ places.idea

To save time, I will answer a few frequently asked questions.professor

Don't you think 11 official languages is a bit thick. think of all the admin.confused
hug wave
Kitten, same Africa what you expected still?rolling on the floor laughing
Cat, what would be my chances of getting murdered if I went to SA?

And what steps should I take if I wanted to increase those odds even further?

Hi Molly
I'd say fairly good. Last year 17,805 people were murdered in South Africa. That is almost fifty every day.frustrated

Hi DC
don't laugh! This is a matter for serious prying.
laugh hug wave
Morning Cat,wave I was curious ,what is the population of south Africa.
As for 11 official languages, the saying lost in translation comes to mind, I can imagine it can get rather confusing at times, confused
Those crime numbers are mind blowing, doh
Cat, those statistics show how bad it is, Even when I lived in Capetown in the late 1980's it had the highest crime rate of any city in the world, I still think back of going to work there with an automatic rifle and pistols, I did all the land surveying and engineering for khayelitsha
So you will know what I'm talking about.
Hiya Cat. hug

I'd like to know what are my chances of finding a nice compatible man..apart from you?uh oh
Thank God i live in boring, ol Switzerland....no rival needed...wine
Daniela, Apart from cat all the eligible men left SA a while ago.

Molly, The answer is yes, the police are responsible for that, as well as a vast amount of assaults.

Cal, You are very safe there!
Rival.....confused ....meant rifle...dah......
Hi Daniela
then what is wrong with me?sigh
laugh hug wave
Map
No, not safe, just used to it. laugh

Hi Calypso
Funny, I never thought of Switzerland as being boring.grin
hug wave
The Swiss have nice cheese and chocolate.

Also lovely ski slopes..and lakes..smitten
I've already offered Cat to come over to visit.
I don't know what's wrong with him???

It leaves you Map as a potential mate. head banger
Cat, I don't think you ever should apply for a job in the SA tourist board.

You wouldn't be shortlisted laugh
Daniela, do you mean that you are going over to SA for a visit, or you invited Cat to you?

As for Map, I'd say we will have to join a queue for him with his new found fame as a kitty-catcher laugh
Kat, I'm having a debate right now with a fellow Saffa. Perhaps you can add to it....ergo...

What do you think of BEE and what has it achieved in the past 22 years?
Hi Catfoot wave
Which parts of South Africa are those things in? grin hug
rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

I miss you, Cat! What are you up to?laugh
Biff, going out to play with the animals on safari seems statistically a much safer bet than exploring the centre of a SA city uh oh

laugh
Molly - sad but true laugh

But (still hoping for that job) most people are absolutely brilliant. It's an awesome place for a holiday.
Between you two, ye are making Iraq sound like a better option! laugh
Biff, with the way you have described SA, I'd say a better question would be "Could anybody have slipped anything into you without you knowing it?"

laugh
wave Hi Cat. We have two. French and Englishhead banger
