Ever been 'Ghosted'?

Have you ever been dating and getting pretty serious with someone when......they disappear off the face of the earth without a trace for no reason whatsoever? You guys have been planning a future, mostly enthused and initiated by him and then, they Ghost you, no rhyme or reason, no rows or fall outs or signs of any kind? You may get a text or whatsapp 'Sorry but I dont want a relationship anymore, need space' sorta thing.....This is apparently a relatively new phenomenon in breaking up..............the disappearing act. They go on to block you on whatsapp/facebook/social media and dont respond to any texts or contact.

Its not me. I've been reading about it on social media, I never knew it existed until then. Someone mentioned it earlier on this week so I looked it up cos I didnt want to seem like an idiot. But it is widespread. Lot of cold uncompassionate people out there in social media land.

Na oldblue, not if they block you. I think someone whose been seeing someone a while would know their email address etc. Lots of different ways to contact people now; and its not just guys, its girls doing it too.

No, Wizard, I'm sure some women have done it, too. It's just probably a little harder for a woman to do. Usually when a woman does it she has someone on the side, just like a man.

It's certainly a phenomenon in today's dating culture. And it's not just men, women are just as guilty, an almost equal number have done the ghosting.

Spot on Dreamcatcher. I just joined back here a week ago with the new profile. This Ghosting thing is new to me, I just wanted to know how widespread it is as its all over the internet now as the new way of ending a relationship. Maybe im naive but I think its totally heartless and cowardly for anyone, men or women, not to allow the ghostee the right to reply. Thankfully its never happened to me and hopefully I would be able to spot the character type and pre-empt it.

Yep, happened to me a cple of yrs back on here actually, started mailing, talking on the phone, everything rolling along going great,we have arranged my place of stay for a fortnights visit, as I was going interstate..... then poof all gone never heard another thing, even her profile is still open on here, which makes me think death, or foul play,
but there is no way of knowing or finding out....

It took me really hard time to learn that only one who care how I feel is worth for me to care about! In relationship sincere and respect are the most important! If he disappear with no reason especially block all contacts as such if that was me I could forget him ASAP and DO NOT let him contact me ever again!
