How Much Did The Politicians Spent/Spending On War

I've read staggering figures spent by politicians on war...

India just closed a deal, spending big bucks to upgrade their military defenses...why didn't they spent this money on the poor? Food, toilets, education...etc? Anyone from India are more than welcome to post the estimate amount.dunno

USA, how much did they spend on Irag and Afghanistan alone? Any idea at all? I've read millions and millions, billions and billions...and worse could be trillions.

UK? How much did they pitched in for Iraq and Afghanistan?

Other countries?

This is an impromptu blog, have no time to post figures here but would appreciate if anyone could fill in the blanks here.

Politicians conned the people, specially the poor..deprived them of their human rights...and yet many are still blind and strongly believe in politics while the entire world are suffering from hunger, war, diseases, and many other afflictions, ain't that clever?

Wondering when the world will wake up, when the people will take a stand...and when that happens ? Will you stand with them ? dunno

If I had heroes Smedley Butler would be one of them. He had integrity. He let doing the right thing destroy him. When the Office Plat recruiters approached him, even if he had just declined the offer he would have profited. Instead, he led them on long enough to identify the prime movers (as well as the identity of the wealthy Army General who would keep the army forces from intervening when US Marines from the 8th St. Barracks attacked the White House, then he told the FBI and the newspapers what he knew.

It cost him. It also mashed fascism in America and brought some of the racketeers he speaks about personal bodyguards in the form of FBI Agents with (personal from J. Edgar Hoover) instructions to put a bullet in their head if they continued the plot (to include non-approved meetings between certain persons). His honesty changed America too. It allowed Roosevelt to stay in office and the New Deal and Social Security to become a reality. It allowed many of the racial and social reforms begun by Eleanor Roosevelt to happen. Later of course the changing world situation led to a softening of hostility between the White House and the wealthy industrialists behind the plot. In return for helping gear up America for the coming war (profiting along the way) they were allowed more personal freedom and the FBi watchdogs were pulled.

We should note that not only was General Butler the most decorated Marine ever (a title he retained until only fairly recently) but at the time of his retirement as Acting Commander of the USMC, he was only 50 years old. He died at he age of 59 in mid 1940 of a sudden abdominal distress suspected to be some kind of cancer (no, he was neither X-rayed nor autopsied).

I strongly suspect had he not suddenly grown ill and died in two years he would have been pulled back into active service as his old nemesis MacArthur was and that WW2 may have had a totally different military history.

Footnote: to learn why and how the US got into WW2 read "A Man Called Intrepid."
I don't have the exact numbers but probably enough to do good over here in the USA.
