What If The World As We Know It Ended In A Few Months?
We all tend to believe that time is on our side and we have nothing but our everyday lives to think about. Sure, it is always good to be balanced between what if's, the present and the future. However, what if you didn't die from some disease or a terrible accident, or natural causes?
Suppose you did not have electricity or free running water available tomorrow and then your food supply is running low or is spoiling now, and the stores are empty?
What would you think about? What would you do? It would be too late to make a plan or to think logically about it.
These events happen all of the time in other places, but usually only for a few months. How difficult it must have been for those who endured such tragedies to cope and wait on supplies or help.
I am talking about globally and permanently. Do you think that you will starve or become dehydrated, die at the hands of looters, be able to gain assistance from some unknown source, wait for the government to provide, or something more like Judgment Day?
How important would politics, prejudice, racial discriminations, global warming, taxes, climate change, or arms control be?
We are all so distracted with life in general, that any major event would knock us on our butts and we would not be prepared for it.
The common speculations are that an EMP would hit us and that it would knock out our already fragile power grid. Without power, our military would be useless because it is so technically advanced now. There would not be any police or 911 to call. There would be no communication. Once the store shelves become empty, then the looting would begin. People in their own homes would not be safe, and if you own land and grow your own food, the government has the right to take it all from you. You may have to get in line at a FEMA Camp set up by the government and hope to get food for your starving family or be detained within its confines permanently like sheep to the slaughter.
Imagine living in darkness constantly other than what sunshine you have during the day that is if you felt safe enough to venture outdoors.
What about sanitation? Without water, things tend to get messy and unsanitary. Do you have enough clothes to wear since you will not be able to wash them?
Water will be in short supply. The western United States has been in a drought for the past 13 years and that will only worsen. How will you find enough water for your family's needs on short notice?
Communication would be non-existent. Everything electrical would be fried and of no use. At least during 9-11 we had cell phones, satellites, cable, and television. None of that would be available to us. We would just believe that it was a blackout or a temporary disruption of some sort.
These are just the very basic concerns that we should all be aware of even if it never happens or if it does, then you could at least have a short-term plan and supplies handy so that you don't have to panic and risk your life to gain what you need at the last minute.
What would you regret? That lost love you didn't pursue? How about quality time with your family? Going to the nursing home to see your mother? What about that close friend you didn't have time to call? How about that vacation you put off because it wasn't the right time? Remember all of those things in storage that you didn't get to see or use one last time? How about that promise you didn't keep? Or that book that didn't get published because it wasn't perfect?
Just something to think about...

Since when someone who showers Blogland with her/his own blogs is considered very arrogant?
OP doesn't understand self sufficiency, preppi.g, networking, electronics, or even EMP. To any prepper livibg on land with so much land that fallen tree branches 'pollute' the land surroundes by like mi.ded preppers he she gets along with, a. EMP scenario is just a nuisance. Did we all not learn in 5th grade how motors and generators work? Do we .ot all know how to build a solenoid? Is not that old tube radio tranceiver (HAM) in the attic immune to EMP, as is any old engine with a distributor instead of electronic ignition?
Point of fact, out here inn the sticks power outages of several days duration aren't unusual. I can some harvest every year. Plenty of cows, horses, goats, chicken ,deer, turky, crow, possum, etc about. meat isn't a problem. It is city people who would suffer with EMP. Some country red neck would probably take some dried chicken scat, mix it with dried cow patty a.d a lil diesel with a 30/30 case wrapped with wire connected to an old D battery a.d blow a few overpa so the hu.gry city folk couldn't easily come begginnng. EMP? A brief nuisance more.
This new ridiculous format of the page defaulting to last commented is asking for such a scenario.
Hardly the bloggers fault
There has already been one blogger suspended for doing just that a couple of years ago, now he's pulled his head in and only blogs without comments allowed.......
.....
Flooding the blogs like that pushes others off the first page who have just as much right to have their blogs seen there as well....
.... and that's only a few examples, Girl, .....pick one you like....
.....
I agree with NonSmoker. It's hardly the bloggers fault. She didnt break any blog rules, did she?
How do you know exactly that her purpose was to push other blogs off the first page? She might simply had so many ideas she wanted to share or ask.
We dont like the topics? We can skip her blogs. Besides, if we want other blogs to show up on the first page, simply post comments on those blogs. It will automatically make her blogs listed below. If we want to make all her blogs disappear from the first page, we can simply post more comments on more of other blogs. It is as simple as that.
The new blog format makes all those possible. I don't see why the big fuss..
Anyway, those are just my opinion. Who I am to argue with you?
........
...
Look in on Blue's 'Speed Blogging' blog.
This is a gag!
We (CS & bloggers) been pranked!
I can appreciate a well conceived & executed prank.
This is all that.
And on that basis, I'll give credit where it's due!
I can't flower/mail her, so I'll do it here...
WELL PLAYED, CATS! ...
Take care : )
First of all, I thought that I had deleted my account. Someone contacted me and alerted me to the fact that I was still active on a dating site.
Second, I was looking at my profile and decided to update it. That is when I saw that blogs were posted on here and that I had written once before. Since I am a writer and have over 9000 connections on another social site, I decided to use those stories that I wrote over the course of the past seven months, once a month, and post them on here. I was just sharing content that I thought would be informative and interesting.
Third, I would like to say thank you to those of you who stood up for me despite the lack of known reasoning and gave me a chance to speak up after the fact.
It was a once in a year effort, so lump it if you don't like it. It was my right on here same as yours.
Thank you to miclee, BestistomeandU, and Kalpataru. I appreciate your efforts on my behalf.
Common sense is what I'd say.
Like Hans said, it was part of the rules.
No longer there where it used to be.
So because you do have great stories worthy for most of us to read and learn from, personally? Go for it. I will never do what you're doing but like you said it's your right. Only th the mods can do something about it.
Never saw you before, so hello and welcome to the blogland.
