What A Woman!!!
Last night I met a most extraordinary woman. When she entered the room, she caught my attention like nothing before and I daresay that she had that effect on more than just me.And believe me; it had nothing to do with her dress code . We purposely hold these meetings as early as possible. She arrived in the uniform worn by the admin staff of a nearby hospital, but she looked as fresh as if she just stepped out a shower; certainly not like somebody who had just worked an eight hour shift.
It was our monthly neighborhood watch meeting and in the absence of my brother-in-law who is in hospital recovering after surgery, I acted as host. She was the only stranger in the room. I sauntered across to introduce myself and quickly learned that they have just moved into the neighborhood a few days earlier.
I’d say about fifty, light brown hair starting to gray slightly, not exactly the prettiest woman around, though far from ugly. Maybe a centimeter taller than yours truly but take away the high heeled shoes and she’d be what I consider the perfect length. She was about seven or eight kilos heavier than what I would have liked. To put it in a nutshell, nothing out of the ordinary and another woman just like her would not have gotten a second look.
But boy, did she radiate an aura. Her presence filled the room. And only then I noticed the man dangling by her side.
She continued to impress me during the meeting. The few questions that she asked were concise and to the point. And though she spoke softly, she could be heard by all. Her voice was probably her greatest asset, next to that aura I spoke about.
Afterwards I realized that, other than greeting, her husband did not open his mouth once during the entire evening, so it is pretty clear to me who’s the boss in that household, but what is it that makes an ordinary woman into something so extraordinary, even before she had opened her mouth?
Hurray!! It is Friday! Enjoy the weekend.

It can't be that loud. I have never heard you laughing here in SA. Only then you need to start worrying about being too loud.
Are you two-timing me again?
You promised to be true this time.
I sure hope she does, but not for the obvious reasons. Our neighborhood watch is forever short on hands and her husband is involved now.
It's too amazing. Everybody picks the fruit of the neighborhood watch. Burglaries has declined drastically. Many are prepared to contribute cash, but while funds are needed, it is not going to keep the the thieves away. We need more able bodies to patrol the streets at night.
Many things I'd say: smile that can melt your heart. Kindness that she showers to everyone. Abundance of generosity to all people around her or her outreach even to those who don't know her. Her total personality that generates positive impression, just natural good feeling she emits.
Now those are earned impressions not first time.
If you feel she's extra ordinary right off on the first sight then it's you being smitten.
It's how you feel because of you and not because of her. And she can feel the same.
Anyways nice to read your post Cat.
I seldom use pics in my blogs but I think I must take some photos of how we have to lock ourselves behind concrete and steel. But nothing can keep the thieves out. We have to scare them off with our presence. Our police force is non-existent at the best of times.
Is neighbourhood watch successful?
Is it not kinda dangerous if the thieves are armed and dangerous?
I think it is more than being smitten. I was not the only man to be impressed by her. She enthralled most the people in the room. Even my sister admits that this woman is above the ordinary.
We have not encounter any armed thieves yet, but I must admit that at least one person in each patrol at night is armed. So far our mere presence was enough to scare them off. They don't like attention.
Second of all I wish a Happy Weekend to you too.
However, if the police are not on board, how efficient will it be longterm?
Here, although not as necessary as there, there can be very good neighbourhood watch communities. But the police are on board.
They recently set up a 'text alert' system where the police text the local coordinator if there is something to watch out for. Criminals have been caught as a result of this system. Link belwo.
I don't like to be like that any more but sometimes it is needed.
Sorry, never been a U2 fan. If that is who you're talking about.
Now back to your charismatic woman
I look forward to meeting another charismatic person again. It's a buzz
Some specific examples in this blog just confirmed that I neither have to assume nor have to ask to get my answers...
I know it's off topic Cat, but don't mind me. Just puttin' it out there...
I'm not sure if I'd easily get involved with a charismatic woman.
I like my woman plain and down to earth. Humble but not scared to raise an opinion. And plenty of grey matter. I want to discus daily events with her, even when she does not agree with my view. A different opinion can only enrich my own view, as long as the different opinion is not forced onto me.
Be careful Cat, you might get sleepless for the next few months.
Not very likely. I don't look at her as a potential lover.
But we could be friends... if she's not too overpowering.
Mind you, I do plan to invite them over for drinks as soon as my girlfriend can fit me into her very busy schedule.
Nope, she is semi-involved with somebody and I have a part-time only girl friend. Though we both have plenty of time away from our lovers, we don't see much of each other lately. It has always been like this. We don't interfere when there is somebody else. All her boyfriends so far saw me as a threat. Ditto for most of my girlfriends
I hope so,. Whether they will accept or not is an open question. Her husband, a book keeper, seems to be a bit quiet. I hope to get to know him better through the next week or so. I'd be showing him the ropes for the time being.
I was assuming you will twist the story at the end but you went with the flow
Sorry if I disappointed you with a drab story, but she made such an impression on me that I had to talk about it. I can only hope that neither of them are one of the silent readers here on CS for she'd be growing wings by now if she read all this about her.
I'd have to educate him somehow. What has happened to the liberation of men? We don't need to spend our lives barefoot in the kitchen just because we don't have bras to burn.
I think he needs a bit of fire under his bottoms. You know, his wife volunteered on his behalf to serve in our neighborhood watch. If my wife did that to me I'd blow a fuse. No, no, no! He must wake up.
No, I'm just kidding. I'd never do that. It is none of my business.
