FIREBALL IN THE SKY, E. Wisc. 1:25 a.m. Feb. 6
Stars are visible...lightning seems unlikely.Fireball meteor?
Did anyone else in the area observe this?
BTW - I'm stark raving sober.

And Mars and Venus are very clear too,
Again...Stark raving sober.
Rough & map...
NOT a planet. Venus isn't even up at that time.
It lit the area up much more than a full moon. Very easy to see objects outside; I was looking out a window, the room was dimly lit.
It pulsated for a couple seconds.
Thinking it might be lightning, I began counting the seconds...5 seconds between a lightning flash & the thunderclap equals the flash was a mile away, 10 seconds equals two miles, etc.
I stopped counting @ about 20 (four miles away). There was a deep rumbling several seconds later. I'd guess at least a half minute after the area lit up.
I don't think a lightning flash some 6+ miles (10 km) distant could've lit things up like that.
If it were lightning that bright, I would've expected a near immediate thunderclap.
I didn't see the source of the light...just the landscape suddenly & brilliantly illuminated.
We do occasionally get 'thundersnow' in Winter, but it's rather rare.
I've seen a fireball meteor before...it's impressive.
I searched the 'net for reports of such an event in the area. None noted as of yet.

YouTube Fireball in the sky over Florida - November 16, 2016 DA Poppa
This is very similar to how brightly the area was illuminated, and for about the same length of time.
But I didn't observe the source of the illumination, as shown in the vid.
YouTube HUGE FIREBALL EXPLODES OVER FLORIDA DAHBOO777
This is remarkably similar...the bright illumination & two pulses at about the same length/interval.
When I saw the fireball meteor years back, it interfered with TV & radio over a large area.
I had the radio on when the area lit up. I don't recall any interference/static.

They list it happening @ 07:25 Universal Time...
That would've been 1:25 a.m. local time.
Vids have been posted...
Sounds good to me, Map!
Map how is it that all these years I've been looking and seen nothing, yet you've not only seen you've been probed....Which leaves me thinking I wonder what they had at KFC...

Much obliged!

Too bad I didn't get to see it. :( There seems to be a lot of strange events around this upper mid-west area.
It may have been visible where you are.
Apparently folks in all or part of 6 states and a Canadian province observed it to some degree.
(See the 'blue globe' vid.)
'Course, one would have to be up. And looking at the right time & place.
A rare case of insomnia being its own reward.
Speaking of insomnia - I wonder if it was visible where Track is.
Map says seeing one confers luck & prosperity on the observer.
Cool, huh?
I like Map. He's a real smart guy to know all that stuff.
I'm eagerly anticipating the luck. AND the prosperity, of course.
Luck and prosperity from seeing a coloured meteor is an old Mashona (part Zulu) tribe saying, Generally something so rare that that gods were sending a gift through the heavens to the needy, they assumed it would bring more cattle and the fields of maize would flourish.
They used to say it was the gifts of the gods that worked the night shift.
Or Chinese.
Whatever.
As long as I get my luck & prosperity...I'm cool with it!
Especially the prosperity.
And luck. Might be helpful getting through the End Of The World, eh eks?
