Immunizations, for kids and adults.

Lots of folks fear them. Is it just misplaced fear? Conspiracy thinking? Ignorance? Not taking your psych meds? Aa.

are there any reason to believe that Immunizations actually works???

by Allah there is. Immnisation saved countless lives since the days of the smallpox. It works and that has been proven ova and ova again. PERIOD!

(sorry .. I had a bit of an outburst there... I'm calm)

when did we start with artificial immunization and did we really have an unbiased scientific study about it
Immunization has its good and it's bad impact.
I believe it's more good than bad.
Neat...read, breathe in deeply, count to ten and then comment......

I think there is an element of risk with a vaccination as there is with anything in life..so yes I think we should have them as whatever's meant to happen will anyway!
Good and bad---Yep that is true we are not clones and do not all take to drugs or jabs the same.

Our immune systems not the same strenghts either, if you have a strong one good for you, me I have to have flu jab a flu would have me in hospital with my lung condition.

Some kids with allergies get smaller strengths of vaxcine and are watched for symptons afterwards,

A lot of people who need meds for mentel problems feel very allienated and some say they feel they live in a daze, so stop taking med with very bad results. all very sad.

Neat I said I agree with vaccinations, that there is a risk with anything in life but the safest option I feel is to have them. When you have children and the fear of anything happening to them, that's when you understand why you follow guidelines, you want them to be safe and what you think is the best for them!
Thanks for the comments, erudite and otherwise, all. There is science supporting most immunizations, and the data seem good enough to give percentages for mild and severe side effects, as well as for efficacy. The former (sore muscles at injection sites, mild flu like symptoms, etc---usually under 10%) and latter (meningitis, paralysis, death-usually 1-2 per million) should be discussed with our health care providers. As to effectiveness, most have been reported to be above 80-90% protective, but some experience mild illnesss anyway. Also, there is fairly good info on how much of a population should be treated to avoid illness in that group---sometimes called "herd immunuity"---often above 80-90%. So when enough folks refuse, everybody is often worse off. Same with pets, pretty much. Aa.
