Honesty always the best policy?

I was watching the movie Interstellar and there was a part that got me thinking. The actors were talking among themselves about honesty. Most agreed that honesty is the correct policy 100% of the time. When the robot was asked, it responded by saying 90/10...accounting for the emotions of some.

So, is it that highly emotional people require dishonesty for their own good?

Or....it is better to have honesty 100% of the time and for people to keep their emotions in check?

....suppose, the second is probably easier said than done when it comes to the highly emotional.

Hey Johnny,
honesty is always the better term for conditions ,some people do have a hard time to understand the small print, but still signing an agreement that they can't follow up.wink
Too deep for this time of the night, brother.

Honesty is the only way.

In my humble opinion..
Seri....I always thought the same....honesty is always the best policy. However, there have been moments in my life that I now regret being so honest about. I have heard it said, there are some things better left unsaid.

So....I have to agree with the robot. laugh
Viking....true....2:30am here. I just got done working and am wrapped up into some great music...never even noticed the time. grin

Thanks for your perspective. thumbs up
Sometimes it's not what is said but how it's being said, Johnny.

Depending on the relationship with each other, with enough experiences, the robot doesn't need to assist us anymore.
Not trying to put you in the spotlight here Seri....but, have you ever felt the need to tell a little fib?

If so....is honesty really always the best policy?
About robots...in the movie they sure looked helpful. laugh
...about how something is said, I agree. There are so many different tones in the voice, the choice of words, the intent of a message is hard to hide.
rolling on the floor laughing alright you got me there, I wrote in my Bio " truth and lie are not simple" solely because there's always some truth in a lie and dishonest truthsgrin
Maybe I should have read your profile before writing this. grin

But....living as honestly as possible is a good thing. I still do be as honest as possible....I think when you are honest with most people, they appreciate it.

I have seen honest people...even in those tough situations....and I cannot help but to be drawn to them.

dunno

I think we have all lied at one time or another though.
There's some truth in this little song wink

I definitely think honesty is the best policy but have found that sometimes my honesty has put me in a vulnerable position as others that aren't quite so genuine have used it against me and played with my weaknesses etc! ie if I hadn't of been so honest, they wouldn't of known how to get to me....but I still believe in speaking from my heart so it hasn't stopped me yet lol!
Seri...I love Fleetwood Mac. It has been awhile since I listen to that song. I will check it out and listen to the lyrics.

Rough....I can relate....with some things coming back to haunt you. I hope you created some distance between those who used your honesty against you.

Thanks all...time for me to get some sleep.

Take care all, and thank you.

I hope I will have some time tomorrow to continue on with the responses...if not, I will get to them.

Johnny, I wrote a similar blog last week (If you had been around, you'd have seen it professor ) called Honesty, Really?

dancing
Ek....I have found the same thing. It is a tricky thing. Thank you. wave

Molly....I will check it out. Honestly, I didn't see it. laugh wave
I say yes n no bcoz I find a lil better to say anything at all » some words are better left unsaid «. Some words can make or break a person n honesty has nothing to do with it welll to an extent I suppose but only in privates lives it would be best, but out here around so many people talking n advising n BS'ing n people say " honest, it's true " then the person texts someone from a dating site lol.
N the guys is wearing a wedding band...all in all, it's best keep honesty out of it unless it's in a someone's private or personal life
