Splinters are fabulous

After a session of wood carving yesterday my hands were full of glorious splinters, long sharp shards of ancient olive wood embedded deep within my dermis.

It might seem strange to some, but I like them, I like seeing the dark splinters deep in my skin, they are not painful, what pain there is is a good pain, makes me feel at one with nature, just seeing the glistening of sweat and blood and Im in heaven.

Of course there is the best part of being covered in splinters, the ceremonial removing of natures shards, the preparation, the tools from pliers, knives and tweezers (The big manly kind not the girly eyebrow ones).

The de splintering begins with some gentle Jackson Brown in the background, can reach a crescendo of Beethoven's 5th symphony as played by Deep Purple as each large splinter is pulled from its fleshy prison and displayed lovingly on a folded white egyptian cotton towel, When all are plucked and liberal amounts of disinfectant are poured over the wounds, I cry out with o*gasm joy as the searing burning pain washes away any microbes that had taken up residence within my hands.

You probably think I should be committed somewhere, but I was tested and all is well within my cranium.

Does anyone else share my joy?

Methinks you should get a second opinion grin
Molly, I would have thought that you of all people would applaud my dedication to something as unique as this, besides I had 3 opinions, they all said I was sane and everyone else was not, amazing what a little back hander can achieve.grin
Map, Map, Map, Map, Map....i have no words...
Free, being speechless is a good thing sometimes, so are splinters, lovely sharp splinters.help
Well map I think it's the extraction that is the thrill..I like to pull them out of my children's fingers if they have had them...the mission of getting the tiny end and easing it out...
But a weirder thing I enjoy is watching large black head extraction videos on you tube.... I like seeing it come to the surface and then all the pus oozing out....some of them have unbelievable amounts inside... It's one of those
sickening things that you know you shouldn't watch, but you just can't help it, sometimes I even cover my eyes and look through my fingers it's so grim....laugh wow
Rough, Splinters are a joy to someone else in the world, I'm happy to hear that, Ive seen some of those "extraction" videos and to this day I wont eat a runny egg or enjoy custard, but thats me, Im not squeamish at all but they are gross.
Yes..I won't post a link...in case anyone has macaroni cheese or meat paste sandwiches for dinner laugh
"splinters that make me feel good to be alive"

Well, Map, when you put it that way... dunno
Oh god Molly that really is fascination....I've never actually done it to anyone...I couldn't imagine squeezing anyone's skin....but watching it is morbidly interesting doh
Rough, that's very kind of you, I'm sure someone somewhere was about to gorge on mac and cheese.

Hi diova, Its not purely splinters that make feel that way, coffee and the scent of a womans hair do it to especially when out in the sun, a meandering stream gently echoing into a cool forest, a white stallion across the field, nonchalantly going about his business etc.hug

Molly, If a stranger approached me in the street with a penchant to carry out an extraction I would probably not be pleased, I dont get those afflictions so Id be safe anyway.
Molly!

That is gross laugh wave
there's no reason why i shouldn't keep my eye on this one. i'm learning a lot about CS
Oh, Map!

Stop that, would ya scold
Free, Its a University here, each day something pops up and teaches us new things!

diova, what? why?, Im full of the joys of spring, my pear and cherry trees are in bloom, bees are starting to visit and new life is everywhere, the sun warms my back and Im happy.hug
Map i get the felling you like moderate pain...like mosquitos bites making you feel alive also uh oh these things help keep your blood pumping....
That's it wasps lol...I remember you saying about being bitten or stung on your hands and arms and liking it uh oh
Maybe I should take notes here......making a whole ceremony of extracting splinters. Hate it and have n patience with it so sometimes makes it worse be trying to scratch it out rather than look for the tweezer.
The thumb nail on the vid is wrong but the episode is "the Splinter"

I watched it one day with the kids barf
Map

Sounds pretty scary to me yet I've taken many splinters out of feet and fingers of my love ones.wink
Map, ooooh, let me at them, love getting splinters out and black heads lol,..........cheers
Rough, Yes I have mentioned my enjoyment wasp stings, nice and manly stings!

Ek, You need to prepare the tools, put on the music and enjoy the extraction

I am so afraid of pain..I'd whine like a baby...I took out splinter from my foot before but not without watery eyes.blues
Prof, A bit of pain is needed in life, its a sign that we have feelings and are alive, maybe next time try some soothing music and numb the area with an ice cube, or chocolate ice cream if that way inclined.
The icecream or ice might do the trick but less pain for me...the happier I am.wink
Snooks add some razor blades to the whip, makes each lashing a warm and wonderful experience, Id recommend carrying superglue with you to heal the deeper wounds, I be embarrassed if I bled to death on the road.
TU CHE !
splinters map id be worring about you I work with wood and getting a splinter from oak is no nice experience .....in behin a nail not enjoyable maybe im missing something
Recently, I joined a group of woodworkers. We were all getting along fine, but then started arguing. So I formed a splinter group.
User, maybe a candle for you too?
Only if you leave it beside the bed or on the cupboard Molly, been burnt to many times and don't need the dark passage lit.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
