Pope Francis visits Egypt....

He wants, againgst strong council otherwise. to travel in mostly personal unproteted fashion. Given the scene in Egypt these days, this is brave but of course has merit for many things. Ecumenical relations between both forms of Catholicism, generation of good will, pride among his flock, and so on, to list a few. But it's also a chance to see if radical Islamic hot heads can view his visit similarly, keeping his visit peacceful, and thereby show that they've really read and understood the majority of the Holy Khoran. We'll see. Aa.

Well, NS, Who can argue with that take on organized religion in general, and the RCC specifically? Some of us have been closer to that damage than others. Yet, I still try to see some good in it all, especially since this fella seems to have led a much different life than most. His plans for the trip are an example. Hope I''m not being naive. Aa.
What Non said thumbs up
Yep, U....Many folks feel the same. Aa.
Just for how long Pope Francis will be spared but while he is he seems determined to show what practising what you preach ought to look like. Im not Catholic.
Last week he spoke to workers and encouraged them to let Christ into their daily lives. Later he visited the city’s sick and shared his lunchtime with homeless people. When the time came to celebrate the sacrifice of the Mass he did so in a football stadium. I think he sets a great example and his entire papacy seems to have been underpinned by chapter 13 of St Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians:

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

“If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Etc. etc etc.

Good man this guy.
I hope that he is not setting himself
up to be the sacrificial lamb that
precedes the final conflict. But it
certainly seems that way to me.
