Surveyor reporting for duty

I had a Spanish structural survey (finally!) on the Spanish property I want to buy and loved this wording - reúne las exigencias de carácter relativo, seguridad, psico-fisiológicas, de protección y de durabilidad.

(Bing says that means it meets the requirements of relative character, security, psycho-physiological, protection and durability.)

That sounds good. Imagine if we could order an impartial, accurate survey done of the single of our choice? Those qualities, definitely.

Any others?

I'm at your service, as my job ended recently and I am betwixt and between changing my entire life, not much point in looking for a new one. I would be happy to do human surveys for you, for a small fee plus travelling expenses. Think of it as an investment in peace of mind

Hey Biff. Have friends who bought apartments and homes overseas. Paris, Costa Rica, etc. Was plannng on doing so myself, to enjoy alternate linguistic cultures, and escape the (evolving) near Canadian border winter climate for 2-4 months each year. But after considering all the plusses and minuses, have decided to rent places to do so. Sure, buyers markets in some places beckon, and I'm always one for a deal. But I no longer have the need to make money in real estate. Part of having enough, living within means, and being grateful. Your thoughts? BTW, Spain and Portugal are at the top of any list. Aa.

Aa, this would be a permanent move for me (although define permanent, I am nearly as mobile as Red, have moved more than 20 times in my life, that includes living in 3 countries already so far)

The only problem with renting is needing monthly income, and the nice thing about the elefante blanco is that it should, could, will

cover its own overheads. So all I need to worry about is food on the table and in the dog's bowl.

That's the theory. And yup, gamble. If my company hadn't closed the Scottish offices I'd have stayed in Scotland dreaming of a life in the sun and going on lots of holidays but that happened, and the elefante blanco waved at me, and ....

I'd say if all potential partners had a sound report like your new house we'd be doing OK

Although you still do have a lot of cosmetic work to do on it

I wouldn't bother having a survey done, already know what they'd say, roof needs re-thatching, smoke emissions from chimney don't meet EU requirements, unsuitable for cold or damp weather etc etc, so it's lucky I live here

This September

ahhh I will be going to Austria in august to celebrate my 70th

I know my birthday is September but that was holiday date so pennies will not stretch to gathering this September
