Scientific "knowledge" in progress....

Scimming some science books used by our twins, who are university undergraduates. Now on cell biology (didn't even have such a book or course in my day), and the classic text on biochemistry, originally by Lehninger, now in 6th edition by two U WI Madison profs. We used the first edition of the latter book. Blown away by the changes in presentation, emphases and new info from when I tried to learn all this fascinating stuff almost half a century ago. Did the same for in- and organic chem. as well as calculus---where much fewer changes over time were noticed. I'll do the same with their physics textbook at the end of the year where an intermediate level of such change is expected. We ae living in interesting times. Makes me think of deals with the Devil to get an additonal 50 years. Bad deal? Aa.
