RIGHT TO REPLY

I have only been a member of this site for a week.

Already I have noticed that some people post on the Blogs then disable the ability to post comments. This prevents people from having a healthy debate about the subject matter.

How can we get a better understanding or an unblinkered view if we close ourselves off to other peoples opinions or genuine facts?

Why is there only a Like facility but no Dislike facility?

Am I the only one that feels this way?

Welcome to CS blogland wave

As for your questions, I'll just let the others answer you wink
Hi Graeme...welcome cheers

This is a topic that has been thoroughly debated here many many times before. Several bloggers feel the same as you and get frustrated by it, but the overriding view is that cs blogs follows the 'freedom of choice' principle.
So if you don't want to allow comments, it's your choice.

There are so many different types of people here Graema. Some are just fun and funny, others are serious and philosophical, some are shall we say ' one brick short', some are sad and pitiful.

There seems to be a type that constantly post blogs that don't allow comments. They are usually troubled, attention seeking but lack the self confiidence or people skills to take part in any debate.
Best thing is to just let it go and enjoy yourself on the blogs.

head banger
Robby, good answer. i was going to say, it's a control thing. it the OP isn't around to manage, their blog can go in unpredictable directions.
@Graeme
The right to reply is as much as the right to disallow comment. Live with that! professor

@robbyreal

thumbs down

thumbs up
Hi Mimi and Robbie thanks for your welcome,

While I do understand the freedom of choice aspect of being able to post comments or not.
Why no dislike button? This would allow people to at least express their own dislike to peoples views or posts even if it is anonymous.
Graeme, yes a dislike button sounds fair enough. But for me, a lack of likes means everyone must dislike it anyway...lol
Kal, thanks for your opinion......very helpful roll eyes

Care to back it up with more than just a thumbs down or thumbs up ?

Thanks Free ! bouquet
Welcome to cs and the blogs.wave wave

I would take all with a Pinch of salt. Join in, or just read, whatever floats your boat.

We have got used to folk not allowing comments, or after awhile if blog is getting, mmm shall we say destructive, then blog block anymore comments.

I do not agree with dislike button, if you have something to say about a blog, just say it, a annomanouse dislike buttoms is almost the same as blog blocking comments JMO of course teddybear
Robbie, I guess your right no likes is kind of like a dislike maybe? (wow lots of likes)

Kal, while I do live and let live and will have forgotten the thing that triggered me shortly. Sometimes posts trigger a response when you absolutely, positively know that what they are saying is factually incorrect.

It makes it especially difficult when posts that trigger me are from people that live in a free thinking society where all the information is available to them if they only looked beyond their own backyards. Then they post on their profiles that they are free thinking and open minded..

I am generally a happy go lucky type of person, but sometimes.........doh
Welcome to Wonderland cheering

There is no Dislike facility in social media, I´m sure you do not need a link roll eyes

handshake
Hi cachucha,

Thanks for the welcome.

I hate to contradict you, but I do believe You Tube has both a Like and Dislike option. I am not so sure about other social media as I try to keep my online presence to a minimum.

I was just posing the question, as Rob pointed out this subject seems to have been exhausted in earlier posts.
correction'

cachucha sorrylaugh
oh my!
my correction corrected itself hahaha
Oh yes, you are absolutely right ...YouTube has it ....before Google wink

Call me Cach, easy peasy .....have a look at the Forums...its a different kind of madness but is fun too, as I said: welcome and hope you enjoy your time here.
graeme short answer cause CS gives the right to disable comments if the blog creator so chooses.
Hey Cach wave

Just for the record, even facebook has a dislike function when nk about.

When you hold down the thumbs up icon, you then have six emoticons to choose from. One of them is an obvious dislike. Tactfully done by facebook I think. grin
??
Correction: when you think about it.......frustrated
Here's my dislike button right here.thumbs down laugh
Graeme, To be honest I would prefer insane debates here most of the time otherwise it´s almost impossible lol!

But that´s me and my madness ....ignore my opinion and judge by yourself please wave
@Robby....half of my life is through Facebook ...I´ve rolled eyes there more than in real time, which is A LOT ....don´t tell me about it roll eyes

Anyway, its sunny here and I must move this gorgeous body to produce moping have fun and cach-catch you later....be good-safe-funny-healthy blah blah blah I need you all wave

@CC. .....and I do not have any problem in giving you all credits for that blushing

Sorry for hijack OP

Cheers guys dancing
Mr grade, It's not a 'right to reply' it is the moderators choice to include such an option, in which they did.Now from the users point of view there are too many reasons to list, as to the 'Why'. I had asked the moderators for a dislike button previously and their response was they had done it before and it just created more then the usual levels of animosities, This site has a large liberal atheist cult that gets carried away if you mention anything their warped little minds can't comprehend ,
Cach have a great day in the sun, make sure you drink plenty. (I don't consider it hijacked)

All opinions are respected and considered. I do make my own judgements too.

It does seem the same people generally comment on these posts though.

Hi CC you have not been discounted

Thanks rob and everyone else who have responded so far wine
Hi Seaworthy while I found your post informative and amusing. Who is Mr Grade?
Mr Graeme , a spell checker issue ,and thanks for your comment
@Thank you Graeme, same to you up there ....luckily wink

...well well well see who is there Mr. SW "...their warped little minds can't comprehend "

Who is the eminence now @Robb?

No one here has "little minds" Sir, no one. Do not bother to reply. I´m gone. Continue breathing ....confused
CC you have put a picture in my mind which I cannot now erase thanks laugh

Seaworthy just Graeme is fine thumbs up

I'm glad at least that someone is commenting and giving me an insight into how things are here.

handshake
after a few days you will get the hang of and just pass thesecones by ..why they do I have never figured out .....also o often thought only one blog a day should be allowed per person .
Hi JJ thanks for your comment.

I have been sat on my hands for a week waiting to be able to post and comment, now I am free relatively speaking. I have read lots of posts on the forums and blogs.

All types of people with differing views have posted, I do not oppose people with different views. I just wondered why some people would choose not to let people comment if they are so sure of their own views.
Hey JJ,

I kind of agree about the number of blogs per day. Some bloggers do kind of hog the limelight a bit...haha.

I guess that should just be an unwritten rule and up to everyone to try their best to adhere to it.

thumbs up
@Graeme

Funny thing is that there are many people here who have CLAIMED to know the truth, to have the fact, when what they have was just from internet, youtube mostly. And I am sure you know that FACT CAN BE DISTORTED. tip hat

You only have been here for a week, like you said, and you are frustrated already? That's strange. confused
Why frustration, when you can create your own blog on that "frustrating" topic and ask other bloggers for opinion. sigh
Hi Daniella,

Thanks for the welcome.

I am not worried, it was just a question. Rob did explain it had been discussed already exhaustively I think was how he put it. laugh

I don't know why you would think I am familiar? Have we met before IRL?
Just wondering how new you are, mmmm maybe photos new grin but youho roll eyes
wow Daniela once again out thoughts are on same lines doh
What about your right to remain silent ?

Your right to walk on by. Your right to post a counter blog.
And of course the one you chose, The right to have a whinge about it dunno
