Please Explain

Please explain to me how does gun laws make good people out of bad people? How does that work?
So banning guns is going to eliminate all the evil in the world huh? Does restricting the use of guns suddenly make a man's heart full of love and good will? Does taking away a man's gun solve the problems with society today? Does taking away a man's means of defense make him safer? Does taking away guns make hate go away? Does taking away guns make the proponents of gun control feel like their problems have all been solved?

Who benefits by gun control? Criminals do. Criminals will then feel more emblazoned to commit crimes because the prey will not have the ability to defend themselves. It turns out the more normal citizens with guns the lower the violent crime rate. The way to eliminate crimes is to eliminate criminals rather than eliminating guns.

Banning guns takes away another slice of our liberty. Banning guns is one step closer to socialism and totalitarianism. Banning guns is flat out Un-American.

The Second Amendment has existed since 1791.
The problem is not guns.
The problem is societal decay.

Guns are tightly regulated in most countries and there are fewer gun crimes as a result.

Of course banning guns won't eliminate all the evil in the world.

But the stats prove that more guns mean more people hurt by guns.

It is not too difficult to understand.
YES, banning guns removes / reduces the ease at which Americans can kill each other. That should be clear to all sensible thinking people but possibly not in the Wild West. :-))
I believe responsible people have the right to own guns, but I am completely against assault weapons
Hi Wen, do you think it would have been written into the constitution in 1791 if there were assault weapons around?
I doubt it.

These kinds of things would not, and could not, have been foreseen in the 18th century.

Laws have to change with 'advances' in society.
Hi Molly wave you are right it is the laws that need to change with the times, Maybe something can change that will save more lives I sure do hope so.
We have strict gun laws here in Canada , that only effect honest responsible gun owners. Criminals still have access to prohibited weapons. More crimes are committed with knives than firearms, doh , and it it wasn t knives it would be something else. Maybe instead of gun laws, we have stricter laws against people who uses guns, knives, and what ever in criminal acts. Laws are inacted for the criminal element of society, not law biding citizens. Definitely something wrong with the present situation.dunno
1to1, knife crimes are on the increase here too.

But you cannot kill 50 people with a knife.

That is the problem with these types of guns, they are perfect for multiple killings.
Seems the obvious solution to stick to the original concept of the constitution & allow everyone to own a gun available in the 1790's, you could still do all things the document intended but couldn't in practical terms mow down hundreds of people at a time dunno
Z,

This is my choice grin

Molly, I sorted expected it would be laugh of course you could produce a cheap mass produced modern weapon that replicated the range & loading speed of the original, and unlike yours you'd be able to carry it laugh
Duro needs some serious English-Studies!doh

it was for the people of those days. unless they were like Rasputinlaugh
Molly

Supreme Court decided people's right.

so, is why I'm well prepared for Putin's Russia.laugh
I think if you want to own a gun for whatever reason, you should be limited to purchasing one gun but not the high power rifles . Only one and it should be rigestered in all states with the name and owner of the gun, therefore nobody would be able to purchase another gun no matter where they go . One gun per household if a gun is that important . No one should be free to purchase as many guns as they wand because they are fascinated or because they have access to it .
and now my next one will be a German Walther P38. the one that replaced the Luger in 1943.

not completely but was meant to replaced the Luger.beer
Ann

I agree. no need to buy high capacity automatic Rifles. unless the buyer has other intentiions
Dur, what makes you want to destroy a debating blog, this one and many others, moron comes to mind doh
It is sad that it takes a tragedy to have all the feelings that we are sharing here.

ask yourself just as I have asked myself, what if that was one of your kids that was among the 58.

Then what sad flower
It's interesting how some of these old laws are still in use unmodernised ( not just in the states) were it suits to continue with them, can you imagine going to a doctor & being prescribed snake oil & leeches laugh times & equipment change & law really needs to keep up with it or become a mockery.
Redex

what I said is true.
I'm the proud owner of a German Luger 1941.
Walther PPK/S 1968
Ruger Revolver 357 Magnum 2017
Walther PPS M2 2017

and I have no criminal record not even a speed ticket.
gift
True guns should not be banned but rather criminals punished. A murderer can use a car to kill someone by bumping him or her on purpose. Imagine a ban on cars.
Not the guns are the problem. But the adiction to those.
In an ideal world you do not need guns. But world is not ideal.
To jump from the present way of living directly to a different state, to the ideal state, is not possible.
The freedom of a society means also to be prepared and able to fight for it. The present tools according to the consciousness of human beings are major weapons and guns. So USA will promote guns. And I understand.

When human will become so clever that they will not need guns .... then freedom will be reached else.
There are two powers in life ... intelligence and force.
Some use force, other the intelligence. May one use both of those.
Until you are not clever enough do not give up your tools. You will lose your freedom.
Obviously a gun is a character test. IF the gun owner can resist shooting his neighbor for not returning borrowed hedge clippers, then he is a "Good" man. IF he shoots his neighbor dead, then he is not only a good shot, but a "Good Judge" of character. It's a win-win for the gun owner.
The answer I suspect is not gun regulations, but electronics. Electronics changed phones, cameras, cars and the work place. The only thing electronics has not changed significantly is guns. I am not a gun person, hence I can't even begin to guess what the changes will be, but I suspect gun safety will be high on the list of what buyers will seek..
