“Love follows knowledge.” Thomas Aquinas

“The Study of philosophy is not that we may know what men have thought, but what the truth of things is. ”

“The study of truth requires a considerable effort - which is why few are willing to undertake it out of love of knowledge - despite the fact that God has implanted a natural appetite for such knowledge in the minds of men.”

“The things that we love tell us what we are.”

Ol Thomas being what he was, knew what he was talking about.
yes i agree the things we love tell us what we are :) I have 3 passions, healing, knowledge and kayaking.
Yes. You are right. Unfortunately in the church much too few priests try to spread his knowledge.
I fully agree with Thomas. well said
read... agree with Swami
my knowledge comes from within and experiences, I do not tell people what i believe because they think it cannot be true, also my path is not anothers path, it is my own.
The end of the path is the peak of the muntain. Once being there one may recognize that the pathways located on the mountain sides lead to the top too. And one may see that people reach the peak from different diections. There is never only one path. The path one follows is his ... and one cannot switch to another. This is called destiny.
I just hope my goal and destiny are the same.
"Love follows every good thing"

Kal-de-Frog frog grin
But the pursuit of knowledge takes time and effort and so there's no easy path to love I think.confused
Kal... Is true what you say. laugh

You may recognize a "good thing" .... when love grows because of that.
What if you follow a "thing" that is not good? Do you lose your time?confused
Geline,

"If you think education is expensive, then wait until you see how much ignorance costs you." gift
Knowledge is not just acquired through education; definitely not talking about that. I was talking about the absolute knowledge.
It was just a quote to underline that lack of knowledge costs one .....

Absolute knowledge does not exists. Where knowledge ends are begining the beliefs and the superstitions.
And those are uncontrolled (random). And people force their beliefs and superstitions as the ultimate truth and go to war for those. Not much love in this.handshake
Absolute knowledge is the absolute truth.
I know those are quotes and I don't believe in all.
Truth is always changing. So knowledge is always one step behind the truth.

But one may have self knowledge because he lives in himself. This is the only truth and knowledge we may have access.
Yes, I mean absolute knowledge is the definitive basis of absolute truth. Not an expert here but I've read articles that disprove that absolute knowledge doesn't exist. They said that for one, all knowledge is based on our senses, but our senses have the tendency to be deceived; therefore, we can never be sure of anything.dunno
"Just because our senses are capable of being deceived doesn't mean they are capable of being deceived about anything.

There may be one or two things that our senses are NOT capable of being deceived of and of these one or two things we can have absolute certainty. If there is only such kernel of knowledge that we can be sure of, it must be:

Something exists."
So we enter in metaphysic. Who knows and what one may know?

If the senses are limited how may one know the reality? Which are the tools? But all tools to research the reality are limited so you may never be able to know the reality using tools.

So the only way to know the reality is to be one with the reality. To overlap with the reality.
Where or how one overlaps with the reality? Only inwardly without using any tool. Inwardly without using the senses and the logic. .... From this point on words are useless ....
sorry .. the post above is a quote extracted from Osho
Knowing and believing are 2 different things, i never really thought of that before. you can know something , but until you make it your belief you have not made it your boundary yet, have I interpreted that correctly?
After consideration of the quote i think i understand it, knowledge is like a liquid ever changing, flowing and expanding, but a belief is solid. it is like a decision you make in the physical realm, once you are doing what you decided to do, you can do nothing else in that moment. Thus eliminating the other possibilities.
Thomas,Osho etc are they your masters and if not do you choose only ones that resonate.
I mean to ask have you evolved in your thoughts and how do you sort it out.hug
