America, the land of opportunity and freedom

Internationally, the USA is regarded as a land of so many things. Most of them are not so good. Depending upon where you live and how you live, it defines and influences how you perceive this great country.

I say great because from my own experience and how I have seen and lived in some places of the world, I as a citizen and have lived here more than anywhere else, the Philippines where I was born included, find this country the most diversified (earned the famous saying: the melting pot of the world) and most sought after from the rest of the world.

When I was in Australia, I learned that we the Americans are regarded as loud, arrogant and warriors, but at the same time, I also learned that we are the land of opportunity, kindness and generosity.

When I lived in Europe, albeit, a very short while, almost all the people I met had been dying to come and visit if not work and live in America. I still find this to be true, specially from the poor countries of the world.

Anyways, like I said, our perceptions and understanding of this country is as diversified and as polarized as our understanding or lack thereof depending on many things and reasons.

I do understand if there are some that might find our values and general attitudes, obnoxious and lacking humility. But just as any country in the world there is no way, one's perception and experience can truly represent the general identity of any place.

For me and the rest of those that migrated here, I find it still very responsive for those who seek to fulfill the not so elusive "American Dream."

This blog is not to change anyone's perception, it only represents my opinion and those that might find it as correct as I do.

I love this country and inspite of all the negative connotations we have earned as a nation, it is still the best for me, my children and my family.

Have a nice Sunday fellow bloggers, readers and contributors if any.

Your comments are all appreciated and feel free to say what you like or dislike in our country, including me of course, and I am sure so many of you don't like me and what I believe in. That is okay. Bring it on.

I am sure there are so many of us who's opinions are favorable and not so favorable. I understand. We are all different and therefore your opinion is for me, just yours and I respect it.hug

I was on the plane bound for San Francisco goubg home and I was seated next to a very nice couple from South Africa doing wine business in Sonoma county.

Their first time, they were so excited and said that all of their friends who visited here say this: "Americans are the friendliest people they ever met and will come visit over and over again"

Anyways, they were very nice people.

Coincidentally the wine production of so many wineries here got reduced because of the major fire last month.
