I usually give myself an entire Christmas stocking whether I will be spending the day with others or not - small things I buy during the year because I like them, wrap, and put aside. By the 25th I haven't a clue what they are

I've had to choose between travelling 400 miles or accepting kind invitations from virtual strangers or being on my own for the past 15 years - on your own means getting up when you want, getting dressed (or not) when you want, eating what you want and being totally self-indulgent. Rather nice, really. There are many on CS and all over who will spend the day on their own.
