I don't really do the 'I remember when' thing laugh
I prefer to live in the future.
You can give people the knowledge of your experiences and wisdom if they ask for it, but they will make up their own mind at the end of the day, just as we did.
Hmmmm......I still instil some of the old values to my kids that had been taught by my late maternal grandparents. grin

I find a lot of wisdom in them, really.
I memeant live in the present, not the future roll eyes

Although I hope to live in the future too uh oh

laugh
Make up your mind, Molly!! roll eyes

What´s your point Jasmine?

The older I get, the more I realize how smart my grandmother was. I wish I had talked more with her about many things while she was still alive... moping
Hello Jasmine, wave I remember my Grandfather telling stories, of his travels. He immigrated to Canada from Russia in 1913. He had some travels thru some historic times, wow , and now I find myself telling the younger members of the family his stories, (story teller) to keep his memory alive. Other than that, I don t do any of the things that my Grandparents had interest in. Time marches on.
I think what you say is relevant /valid
From a personal perspective it is ones cultural upbringing
If one Is raised to have respect for one elders within ones immediate family, and community rather than the western individual first concept, than one is more inclined not only to take note of ones elders wisdom/life's experiences, but actually incorporate it into their own live's and pass the knowledge on to their own off spring in their turn. With the added benefit of their own life's experiences added to their elders knowledge, making the knowledge they pass on to their children more relevant to their children's life/time, kind of like continual software upgrades/updates.

Even though I was born/raised/lived my whole life firmly in the western world ones formative years was strictly ethnic based and never forgotten even now I am well past my use by date lol but I admit that it is frustrating trying to continue to keep our cultural identity from being subsumed/assimilated into western culture, the world moves on, our grandchildren need to move with it, for their and their children's furture well being.
A postscript I did not find it hard to have a foot in both worlds and would not change my life in any way, but as I get closer to dying I find myself retreating back to my roots.
Aging, J.. There's a rare genetic syndrome called progeria. Google it for a little perspective on aging.. A-Aa-V.
I was never fortunate enough to meet either of my grandparents from either side. They passed on long before I was born.
Hi Jasmine.
That is the beauty or growing old. It brings you a peace unknown in your youth. Yes, and the wisdom not to share ideas with those who won't appreciate it. Growing old is the cherry on the cake of life. As long as you don't stop living just because you're growing older.
hug
A lot of people reach old without ever getting wise sigh
At first, I thought this blog is about getting wrinkles.. laugh
Wisedom is not relevant in today's world.. so far age has thought you nothing if you believe that.
I've got my first reading glasses half a year ago. I dye my hair. That's all that reminds me of aging. As for the wisdom.....it does not bother me either. I'm doing well in given circumstances.
