We all have to survive/tools.

Okay. We all have to survive in this world. It would be a little better if you can thrive so as we can create comfort for ourselves down the road. In this ever changing technological world, I cannot help to think about what tools would be essential for creating comfort.

The first tool that comes to mind is knowledge. I think an obsession with knowledge is just as bad as not having any knowledge. There has to be a balance. In my opinion, the balance is created with knowledge and real life experiences.

The next tool that comes to mind is a network of friends. I was once told, it is not what you know...but who you know. I think in order to become part of a network, you need to have something to contribute within that network. With that said, that saying I heard is partially true. It helps to know something as to not become a sponge to that network...but to also contribute and become one of its assets.

The third tool that comes to mind is reputation. It is difficult to thrive in society if you have a bad reputation. Especially with social media, it is easy for your reputation to get spotted. Treat people with respect is important.

The forth tool that comes to mind...actually has to do with the mind. A healthy and happy mindset allows you to perceive reality clearer and have the motivation to achieve comfort. Not to mention, the capacity to better understand (coupled with knowledge).

The fifth tool I can think of is the ability to manage your finances effectively. It don't matter what sort of money you make, if you spend it as it comes in your wallet....it will be difficult to create comfort down the road.

The sixth tool....the ability to discern friends and lover(s). This comes with some knowledge and some experience. I have always said, allowing the wrong person in your life can create a hell on earth for yourself. However, it is said that humans are social creatures and yearn for companionship. So be careful, but yet...allow people in your life.

Are there any other tools you believe have helped you in life that you would encourage somebody who is entering this world to use?

Happy Sunday to you all.

Johnny,

I'm still trying to figure out what MOLLY meant with her comment about a CAN OPENER. I gotta see if there is a Can Opener mentioned in the Birds & Bees book. confused
I think her master forces her to wear a chastity belt, thats why she invited you over with a can opener.
But, maybe your might be on to something. Like your sifter, if one of those are not available, the can opener makes a great alternative. laugh
laugh Pat....in the back pocket too. hmmm

Sorry Molly.....tongue laugh

There is only one tool I have. That is to always remember, I only have control of myself. My thoughts, words and deeds. Everyone else can use their tools that I have no control of. grin The power tool is mine. The will power. laugh

Sorry, seems like I jumped in a good chat and made it boring.grin
Excellent Usha. You know, that advice you have given, I discovered for myself later on in life. People will be people and if they do not respect your boundaries or if they are doing something you do not approve of, you can either discuss it with them or begin to distance yourself from them. Ultimately, like you say, they are entitled to do as they wish, as with one's self. thumbs up thumbs up

The power tool. laugh I figured it would have been something latex or something...but, it was better. rolling on the floor laughing tongue

You ruined nothing BTW.

@ Sparton,

No, you aren't pestering me at all, you can ask me as many questions as you like and would answer them as soon as I can.

Not quite sure if I want to continue this conversation on a public forum to be honest but, would definitely respond your question-maybe send this to you privately.

Thanks. wave
Sure Star. Feel free to privately message me.
Johnny,

As for survival skills. I remember that ole saying, "Give a person a Service Station Hamburger, and they will eat for that day, night, whatever. But, let that person go sell aluminum cans and plastic bottles, and they will be able to go buy their own darn service station hamburgers everyday."

I kind of like that saying. I think I saw an Motivational Poster with that saying on it for sale somewhere. That way, business offices can post it up for their sales people and such. grin
Excellent blog. You certainly do have the gift of the gab. wave

So....maybe another tool would be learning to be somewhat curious?

Absolutely. thumbs up That's why I believe Einstein said imagination is more important than knowledge because curiosity should should bring you to that knowledge.

As technology advances many things will change including the high prices to sustain the middleman. Yet the jobs and income derived from technology is also being used to educate kids on a different level in developing nations. Like youtube teaches people how to build and repair stuff, but that's not all by a long stretch.

Too many comments but I read a few. thumbs up
Nice Robert....but even nicer Keepers. (and not because she is a woman Robert). laugh
Tools are for fools? you are only as smart as ones tools.Teaching one right from wrong special early development skills. Could one have tools. Solar maybe a tool for survival... One my have to look at all the resources as to survive. How could one live without what we have as a modern Life. shop talk yer. Right How could one pump water or think of transporting water. Why go backwardsconfused
