thoughts on Socrates work..

Socrates was a classic Greek philosopher.
He is best known to many for his powerful influence on the youth of his time.
His thoughts and ideas our school systems still teaches today. He lived during 470BC – 399BC.
He is recognized for his great influence on western philosophy and for shaping the minds of Aristotle and Plato, who were his students.
Socrates believed in truth and showed more interest in scientific facts rather than religious beliefs, which at the time was going against the people governing society.
After his participation in the Peloponnesian war he actually dedicated his life to speaking and sharing his thoughts and ideas with the upper class youth.
He conveyed to them ideas that challenged their everyday beliefs and way of life. Apparently, his goal was to teach them to think for themselves instead of accepting what society leads them to believe.

I recalled these words tonight before going to bed.
I met this evening some young friends of mine had some coffee talking over the new political situation here in Greece, the result far from Socrates ideas...
I bitterly realised that power of media managed to demolish all classical revolusionary ideas from peoples minds, ideas once lead French youth on general strikes May 1968...
It seems today young people all they care about is making more money and welfare the effortless way regardless the price they have to pay.
Where does this leads to, denying our true humanism nature ideals and classical way of thinging, right to a big zero... frustrated

Good night Socrates this world will never change...
that's why, aeropos, all we can do is change ourselves. if you can change yourself, you can change the world simply because you will lead others by your example. it's so simple, really.
"Hope" is the thing with feathers. that perches in the soul,and sings the tune without the words and never stops at all.

Thats all we can do, change ourselves and "hope" for a better tomorrow !handshake

So accordingly to his teaching nobody is bad, individ’s “bad actions” are only the result of unknowing.
Don’t think it is bad for young people nowdays tended earn more money. Maybe that is the unconscious way to became more independent and stabile because young people often cant find proper job and feel unsafe. They have many interests and dreams for future, where they need this money. Besides, the Youth is the time when you have much more dreams then in old days. But I find that young people now in some way much more rational then oldies.

grin If we would to “sew” grin Socrat to above, it could be nice if old competent generation could be able don’t grumble but understand the young and help them to find correct motivation for money earning and opening themselves. Like Socrat did… grin
