A Minute Of Your Time?

Can you give me a minute of your time? Of course not, you cannot save, give away, receive or spend time; it is just a figure of speech. And yet, there is an abundance of it in the universe, which is defined qualitatively and quantitatively by time, space and matter.

Of all the things in the universe, time is the single item that science finds hardest to explain and all we can do is to do as much as we can as it relentlessly walks on; or we can sit idle, simply watch it goes by. It waits for no one.professor

Time compares well with the three stages of water.

The past is frozen solid; it starts now and stretches back to the beginning; whenever that was. There is nothing we can do to change it. Yes, we can correct the effects of the mistakes we made yesterday but we cannot undo them. What is done is done. An apology does not undo your previous action; it only admits to making a mistake. We cannot save a position and restore to it when things work out wrong. grin

The future is hidden; an impenetrable steam vapor that nobody can see through. Some people claim that they can but that is a topic on its own. It starts now and stretches forward into eternity.dunno

The present, also known as ‘now’, is a fleeting moment in time between the future and the past when the steam vapor of the future condenses into water before it instantly freezes into the solid ice masses of the past. It is strange that the only component of time that we have direct control over, last for just a moment. Yet it determines the past which shapes the future. shock

To those who believe that time is the best teacher or that time is on their side, I have bad news. Time will kill all his patrons and will eventually destroy everything. Time is just something that prevents everything from happening at once; something to stretch the process of his destruction.idea

Hi Mimi
Time is relative; just don't ask me relative to what.grin
hug
My time on Cs , will expire very soon .
Counting the years is also time wasted .

Annlee
Your time on CS never expires. This is a commitment for life, People always come back.laugh

What's it? Something to 4AM at your neck of the wood? Not sleeping?

Hi Molly
Thank you. More or less my kind of music. Interesting though, it was The Cardigans that put Tom Jones on the map initially and now it is all young faces. So I wondered if the group evolved into this. Apparently not. I googled and found them to be a Swedish group formed in 1994. I wonder what happened to the original group.

It is strange that for most great singers there is a group somewhere behind. If not for The Commodores there would have been no Lionel Ritchie and Cliff Richard got there via The Shadows. Frankie Valli needed The Four Season, Good singers are not easily recognized without a good backing.
hug
Hi Star,
Thank you. I suppose then time cannot be wasted either. It only marches on while we do nothing.laugh

Time travel is a myth. Methinks that experiment to ‘prove’ that speed slows time is flawed. It is more likely that speed affects atomic clocks. Nothing can affect time.doh
Hi Cat.

Good blog.
No point looking back.
Only ever regret time wasted.

No where to go only forward.

Hope you are keeping well hug
Cat, Tom Jones would have been a big name, at least over here, way before he did that song with The Cardigans.
It did probably get him a wider, younger, audience though.
Hi Dee,
Yes thank you, I'm fine.

To think that we sleep at last 40% of our lives away.laugh \
@Catfoot

I think that the time is just an illusion of a human mind.

Everything has already happened.

When we become aware of the 'present moment' - it has already gone. We already 'remember' it only.

We live in the past and we are made of the past.

There's no such thing as 'seize the day/moment'.

Have a nice day! wave
Cat.

Yes what a waste when you think of it like that.
Always envious of those who survive on 2 to 3 hours sleep.
Shared a house with an insomniac..used to go on 2 hrs sleep.
But always had bundles of energy.
He was not the type to take anything to boost his energy either, if you catch my drift.

I get between 5 and 6 and im a zombie the following day moping
hi Krinka
If I then say that the universe was created on Monday, but with the physical appearance of being billions of years old. Crops, pregnancies, books, fossils, light already on the way from distant stars, and literally everything (including your memories before Monday) were all formed at the time of creation (on Monday) in a state such that they appear much older.professor

Of course nobody will believe me and yet a very large portion of the people on this planet are quite prepared to believe that it happened just like that 6000 years ago.grin
hug
Hi Molly
I'm not talking about the modern Cardigans. Tom Jones sang with a Welsh group called The Cardigans when he was still a coal miner. That is when he was first noticed.
hug
Cat.

I would have thought the same.
Shared a house with this guy and my boyfriend for about a year.

So i saw his sleep patterns .his eating patterns and work patterns.

He just kept going..
Theres no way this guy was using any drugs either..was as straight as you get.
Plus he managed to just get everything done kinda guy

Well theres no harm in sleeping when u need to...we need to listen to our bodies too.
Id glady take ten hours if it was possible for me.
grin
Dee,
Give it time. The body can go on with little sleep but the brain needs rest and plenty of it. Eventually he'd have to slow down.
hug
Molly,
This happened in the early 60s. I first came to like him in the late 60's and have been a fan ever since. His first hit (It's not unusual) did not catch me. It was when he released 'The green green grass of home' that I took a fancy in his music..
Cat

Im sure that maybe the case.
He has a wife and four beautiful kids now, so his ideals of sleep are out the window im afraid
laugh
Cat, I had never heard that before.
It is strange then that one of this bigger hits was with The Cardigans again tinfoil hat
Hi Molly,
Indeed it was strange. That is what made me google the band. I thought it may have been the same band that morphed, like the Tremolos. I wonder if TJ was not attracted by the name as well, hence the recordings with them.
hug
hi Dee,
Well, at least he found the time to make them. Probably had a bit of sleep afterwards. nothing that can drive a man to ed as easy as a young wife waiting.laugh
hug
too many typos. 'ed' was supposed to be 'bed'doh
Oh he never had a problem in that department.
I did share a house with him afterall laugh
uh oh
@Catfoot

I have no problem believing you. smile

I believe that everything is created in just one 'moment' (out of time) and that everything exists in that 'moment' - happening all at the same time, while - actually - nothing happens at all. laugh

I'm glad I'm not the only one with ... unusual (read: crazy) ideas on CS. uh oh laugh
Dee
Quite frankly, I cannot offhand think of any man I know with a problem in that department. Not for the lack of want I mean.laugh

Hi Angel,
I'll download a new keyboard as soon as I can get a round tuit. I just cannot locate it at the moment. Actually everything is missing this morning. Somebody took the plunge and he did not return it either.laugh

Hi Catfoot, interesting blog wine when I retired I said I was going to get rid of my alarm clock then I came back to reality laugh I still need the dang clock for things as getting up for Church, for when I have to get up early for work on Wed or some kind of appointment other than that I eat when I get hungry and sleep when I get sleepy. I guess there is no escaping time dunno

One thing I would like to add is I do think time can heal.

cheers my freind
I'm told it is possible to know where you are in time, or where you are in space, but not both at the same time. But I think that is universe stuff for rocket scientists, because I know I am sitting at my desk and I know it is 17h58

and I know that it is raining. How's your rain situation?
anytime you help someone with something, you are giving them more time, because it takes them less time to get that job done.
If you do not like the concept of time or just do not want to deal with it you are in luck . you can always go into a black hole because it's gravity is so dense that nothing escapes and nothing exist not even time . now if you do, send me a post card and let me know what it is like down there . I have not made my summer plans yet .
Hi Wen,
Time is everything in our lives. We need to know the time all the time. Cannot be late, can we?
cheers
hi Biff,
We had some early rain but it does not help when it falls here, other than filling buckets and barrels. But there is something funny going on. We went up to Steenbras Dam the other day and it is running over. I think local government is abusing the situation to make money out of us.
hug
Hi Merlin,
Then why do they tell us that time is constant?laugh

but jokes aside, not more time, rather more opportunity to do other things.grin
hug
Hi Grouchy,
I'm not sure how good the postal service is around a block hole but from what I understand it is not a good holiday destination; summer or winter. Perhaps you should make other plans.grin
cheers
