Food poisioning....

More common than we think. In the USA, some 30K cases yearly, with up to 10% being fatal ! Well, after a lunch at a street vendor's truck this week, it hit me hard. Cholera style watery stool trips to the crapper, head ache, mild fever, tiredness and belly discomfort. These usually resolve on their own with no treatment, other than rest and not eating. Gradual progression of diet to clear liquids, and so on. But on the good side of things, I've lost almost 10 pounds, and still have little appetite. Aa-V.

Hello, wave You mentioned food poisoning , a docter here on the Canadian prairies ,at a rather prominent hospital, was talking about the flu the other day. ( flu season here hits big time in the winter) He believes a portion of the flu s could actually be food poisoning. COLD weather adds to fresh produce spoiling quicker, resulting in sick people who eat somewhat damaged produce. And food poisoning, and flu like syptoms are somewhat similar. It does get person thinking, confused
I have had food poisoning. It isn't nice.

When I travel to far-flung places, I am more likely to get it to some degree due to a change in the diet/sanitary conditions, etc. It is one of the hazards which is worth taking the risk for though.
Had a serious outbreak of Listeriosis in our country. Couple of people died. It was eventually traced to a meat processing plant making ready to eat cold meat know here as polony. It is a cheap alternative for real meat so very popular amongst lower income groups. In the end lots of processed meat products were taken off the shelves to try and stop the outbreak. Seems like it is working as no more cases were reported for a while now. I have a very strong digestive system or something as nothing has ever caused me to have anything but a couple of cramps.
The most Americans get poisoned eating rotten eggs after Easter..... I've heard on the news today.
I would never eat from a street vendor's truck ANYWHERE. I have seen them handle food without even gloves! ugh. Hope you feel better soon....take imodium it will stop the diarrhea.
You'll have every chubby on CS out looking for street vendors, though. I wonder if there's one near me? Hmm
