The impulse buy

So I saw this bulky black leather sofa cheapcheapCHEAP at a charity shop a few months back and bought it because I need furniture and it was just the job and at worst, at absolute worst, the zman said he'd buy it off me if I couldn't find a spot for it. It IS nice, and it WAS a bargain, so I stuck it in the van and took it home.

Then the alterations kept getting delayed and delayed and it has been sitting under cover on the terrace for months

Then I had to sell the van because the MOT was about to expire

And NOW finally I have rooms ready for the sofa. Which is TOO BIG TO GO THROUGH THE DOORS. And without the van it can't go up the mountain to the mountain man because paying for delivery will double the price and stop it being cheapcheapcheap

So that's 80 euros I don't have to throw around, thrown around and down the drain.

very mad

Your worst impulse buy? (I've noticed when I do one of these 'I was a dummy make me feel better by telling me you were too' blogs no-one else ever made a mistake ever.) Hmm.

GG, yikes re your weather and yes I am so very grateful I missed the winter in Scotland, it was pretty bad by all accounts, my FB friends there have been posting the most terrifying pics. I do like snow, but there's plenty of it in the Sierra Nevada, I did go to visit it, and patted it, got back in the car and fled back down with but one stop for hot chocolate on the way laugh

The house project is not a labour of love but there's a lot of laughing yay

My furniture needs will have to be met by the 2nd hand shops and ads on Mil, which is fine, keeps it eclectic! New mattresses, new pillows, new linen, but all basics 2nd hand, painted where possible (some are extremely odd) but otherwise I embrace new colour schemes, life is change laugh
Biff, sometimes I think the type we fancy and want are two different things conversing

Anyways, can't say I'm an impulsive buyer nevertheless when I fall in love with certain paintings, it kills me not to buy them.
Biff ~ I painted my furniture [old recycled] a cream shade [Dulux Orchid White] a little goes a long way. I spent a lot of energy on the sanding, priming. Then it's a dream. Another colour is Farrow and Ball a gorgeous light green, and a Greyish colour but I found them in the cheaper ranges, just a silk, not a gloss.

I understand that living in the Sunshine, means you can use blues and other colours. Here in Grey skies, light works best, and for small rooms.

I have bought stuff that needed to be recycled and over estimated my abilities, I haven't a lot of money so I have had to get a friend to chop us the wood. So there's another way I buy on impulse, oh what a beautiful chair ! and then I get it home, should have got down and looked underneath ~ full of woodworm.
