Las Vegas Trip

Does any of you on here ever gamble?

I do but just for entertainment. I used to go to Sin City at least four times a year when I lived in Wooford Heights but now I am way far in the North and only go there now twice a year for fun.

Anyways, I play Pai Gao poker, my only table game and the Progressive bonus is almost a million dollar at the Flamingo. Whoa a very high one compared to all the Indian Casinos in California or even in Vegas. The only thing is that you have to play with $5.00 dollars to win instead of only a dollar in the bonus. The main bet is minimum $25 to $10, 000. I normally play at least $300.00 a deal.

There was a couple next to me playing at least 5 grand per game and walked out with at least $40 grand. Sheesh I wish I'm that lucky.

Anyways I had so much fun. I didn't lose that much but my stay at the Mandalay Bay was cool. I normally stay at the Bellagio and or the Flamingo but this time the price of Mandalay was way too cheap compared to Ceasars and or the Venetian. They are doing everything to get back their reputation.

Oh yes Lindsy, Good to see you on the blogs again, yay
Good morning Ito. Thanks for your comment.

Yeah Las Vegas is so much fun for me but compared to the early eighties and nineties when casinos were not all over the place in California Las Vegas was really a destination of so many people.

Anyways it's still okay when it comes to fun and when it comes to Services it's still absolutely entertaining. the good thing about it is it's not as crowded as it used to be.

California is not flooded with small casinos compared to Australia where every block of the city is gloided with little casinos but they don't have game tables only the big ones. At the Jupiter in Queensland there was a game but it's the Chinese tile.

I had fun.
Hi Lindsy wave

Check Macau out if you love casinos.wink
Ito, thanks.

I'm pleased to hear that.
Thanks Mimi.

How are the honeymooners? Say hi to your love.

Anyways I'm sure it's glitzy.

I was in Monte Carlo in the late 70s before I came to the US and I was impressed but Vegas is for everyone, player or no player.

In Australia specially ir North in Queensland, I heard the Chinese are so aggressive in pushing through the building of Vegas like entertainment there.

I'm positive casinos in China are way up on the high nines.

Note: San Francisco where the biggest China town outside of China are all flooding the Indian casinos and because of this Graton casino 56 miles North of Frisco is a huge Vegas like. The rooms are $400 a night. I'd fly to Vegas than go there.
LJ. Indeed, every time I drive in Boston. Aa-V.
Art and I are enjoying each other’s company... smitten

It’s very nice to have someone scratching my back... grin
Aa, we need yo break away once in a while.wave
Greast Mimi.

Hope to see you one day.
LJ ~Glad you enjoyed your holiday. wave
A Las vegas fan you are. I have to admitt to being a fan od Sin City also. That is true even thougdh I don't gamble. The $10 a day I put in quarter machine I don't count. Lately though I find that I enjoy Laughin more, a lot less crowded. It takes an hour longer to get there but I think worth it. It also does not hurt that a times you can grt rooms for $25 a night (plus tax). Hope you enjoyed your stay.
GG very much so. It feels so good to get away once in a while and just the glitz and cards.

wave
Oldie, have you ever played at the Orleans? A friend of mine suggested it because of the atmosphere, very friendly and non touristy, but golly the smoke was killing me. Sure the bonus was up to 150 grand with only a dollar bet on the bonus and 15 bucks minimum per deal but the smoke was way too much and too drabby.

Anyways, I had so much fun as always. I set my limit and I don't break my bank just trying to win back all my loses. The food as always is so sumptuous and great.

I don't go to Laughlin at all.
I'd only ever gamble on a sure thing and then it isn't a gamble laugh

Your trip sounds fab and there's something so James Bond and glamorous about gambling but when I'm waiting for the last card to be turned up, or the roulette ball to fall, instead of feeling keyed up and excited I just feel sick. My BFF is like you, gambles for fun occasionally and really enjoys it but I'm missing the enjoyment gene when it comes to tension

blues

I'd love to go to Vegas, though, I believe it is absolutely incredible, such an experience, lots to do even for non-gamblers!
Yes, I have stayed at the Orleans, it was about 20 years ago. The stay was included in a pkg. dea with bus fare. I don't remember how I got involved in this deal (probably an old girl friend) do not remember much about it. As far as Vegas goes I perfere the Downtown area.
Hello SR,

I don't mind gambling with as little money as possible. I am more of a poker tournament player. There is no beating the casino. Poker, at least you are playing other people...not the casino. With a poker tournament, you can buy in for a couple bucks and win big. thumbs up

wave
I was told by a taxi driver that we should go to the casino after 4am and no later than breakfast. Now there's no more money to gamble because our new project has taken it all. yay
Keepers.....

If there were any reason why that taxi driver told you to go after 4am and leave before breakfast....I wonder if he would still be a taxi driver. In other words, why is he/she not a millionaire relaxing on the beach somewhere...instead of? laugh
The taxi driver is a she, and she did win big amounts on the machines, twice. I believe her. But you see, they never tell us about the losses. rolling on the floor laughing
Johnny, I do join the black jack poker once in a while because of free entrance and a good chance to win but I don't like the thinking involved in either splitting, doubling and or hitting.

I love Pai Gao Johnny, it is fun.wave
Keepers, I also heard about that but I think it is for the machine. My mom hit the big one at 5:00 am.wave
LJ, chances of my travelling to the US any time soon rely on my premium bonds hitting the big one and the odds on that are so slim they can be measured at atomic levels moping

Premium bonds aren't a gamble, you can cash them in at any time, but while they're in the pool there's always that faint, faint hope ... daydream

But hey, if they DO, you better meet me in Vegas to show me all the fun places laugh
Absolutely Elle, wouldn't miss it for the world. I am like an expert there and I am not bragging. I used to be a high roller Elle, get up to 25 grand credit just for playing and can pay them back when I want to pay them if I lose.

That was 20 years ago. I don't do it that way anymore. I am now just for entertainment but like I said Elle, it is fun. In Monte Carlo, it is just hard core gambling, heck you have to check in your chip before you can enter the casino, in Vegas you don't have to play a single dime. Just visit the stunning displays of art in the buildings or anything you want to do. I hope you love food like lobster. Google Rio restaurant, one of the best in the world. Not quite as the Opera by Hotel Intercontinental in Sydney or the Gianni in Queensland but golly, you'd have fun savoring the sumptuous food.

I do recommend we plan by next December Elle? Most fun time of the year.. It is mind blowing as to what the place would do to entice this season for the world to come.bouquet
My son-in-law has been about 7 times (usually stag do's) and my daughter has been twice, both say it is absolutely great so I shall tell the premium bonds they have to get with it and line up for a big payout laugh

Yup, love lobster!
Elle, I imagine all the exciting experiences your son and daughter had.

Make sure you work on it, okay?

We will have fun, guaranteed.

While you are at it, we can go to Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon, on a tour for about a day.

I can't wait Elle.
Horse races it is Lady Imp.

Our derby here is also exciting if you love horses. There are so many movies made out of these events.

Lady, I will try to get to the other place.wave
Don't want to sound like a drip but with $40k (at current exchange rate) I can feed about 10 hungry kids/persons every day for more than 2 years.
What most gamblers/people don't realize is that a Casino's aim is to make money out of the patrons not the other way round. The majority of Americans I have worked with are way too spoilt too, always wanting their comforts from home, even when they are far from home.laugh
JMO
Absolutely Luke. It was the founder of the mob controlled casino (Ben Seagal) Bugsy, who said and quote: "Men and their money enter the casino and only the men leave".

Guaranteed profit for the house.

I know! I adore the horse movies and books. The most recent clip I watched (having read the book years ago) was Ruffian. I don't know where the love of horse racing came in, but it's enamoured me for years.

It's a good thing the track here is a good distance from me. The last time I was at the track, my daughter found a ticket left in the machine. I was sure it wasn't a winner as it was just left there. She got $600 and we left, never even watched the races that day!

Now that's a heck of a payout. lol.
@eleg, What are Premium Bonds?

I never gamble but I am pretty active in the stock mkt. The moment one of my activities starts to look like a gamble, I fold up my tent and move on to something else.
My ex BIL, now deceased, got so frustrated with me one time that he actually bought me a $2.00 Lottery ticket. It was a winner, $4.00. I said oh cool, I won 4 bucks. He said you're supposed to go buy 2 more tickets. I said why? He said that's what your supposed to do. I said, that's not what I do. He took the 4 bucks and bought 2 more tickets. They were both losers. I said Are you happy now?mumbling
Lady, now that is what I call a wind fall.
That was my royal flush with the regular bonus of 150 to one. If that would have been at the Flamingo, that would have been 10 grand on their special bonus.
This is my 33rd year of residence in Vegas.
You may be one of three:

1. Your net worth is greater than D Trump's.
2. You are a liar.
3. Your days are numbered. frustrated
Strong your opinion is noted. I don't fall for people's judgment.
Ten grand is a nice number to see in your bank account. grin

If I'm not mistaken, the Kentucky Derby is on this Saturday. I don't watch tv so I'll have to either wait for it on youtube, or go to someone else's house to watch it. heart beating
Lady, I hope you will have fun watching it either on youtube or on your friend's housecheers
