Horses that were once the pride of the South African Infantry.
JOHANNESBURG – The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) was "horrified" after it had to put down 25 horses belonging to the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) because the animals were starving to death, the council said on Monday. The animals were in the care of the SANDF's South African Army Special Infantry Capability (SAASIC) unit.
In a statement, the NSPCA said its inspectors found the animals "in such an emaciated condition or compromised state of health that to prevent their further suffering they had to be destroyed".
These same horses were once the pride and joy of the unit.
There are no words to describe.
