Horses that were once the pride of the South African Infantry.

JOHANNESBURG – The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) was "horrified" after it had to put down 25 horses belonging to the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) because the animals were starving to death, the council said on Monday.

The animals were in the care of the SANDF's South African Army Special Infantry Capability (SAASIC) unit.

In a statement, the NSPCA said its inspectors found the animals "in such an emaciated condition or compromised state of health that to prevent their further suffering they had to be destroyed".

These same horses were once the pride and joy of the unit.

Not to take your blog off topic but the boere were excellent riders, at one with the horse, akin to the mongols. wave
Thanks for your comment, I can sense you are passionate about animals unlike a few very 'caring' folk that are in fact only trying to deceive. Horses have always had a special place in my life and I hope the NSPCA can clear this mess up. bouquet
Hey as sad as this is case is be happy that you have genes of compassion. Many don't and never will because they've been conditioned into oblivion. Be glad that you are one step closer to being ahead of those you see around you. hug
Instead of feeding them they killed them. Ugh.
