putting smoking in its place

this is a blog for the smokers on CS - the social, the regular, the trying-to-quit, and even those who call themselves non-smokers but turn up for meets reekin' like a lum, or keep bumming 'just one' from you.

smoking

And no, we are not convening this meeting behind the stinking garbage bins. That's partly what this is about. We're being hustled, so we are. I don't think any countries allow smoking indoors in public buildings or any public transport any more. Public open spaces are under threat. Laws are coming in making it illegal to smoke in a house or car if there is a child around. Some countries already have them, so the kiddies have to sit down and think about their options. Do they shop mommy or daddy or the grandparents to the authorities, and likely get cut out of the will? Or did they remind themselves that shutting up will mean mommy / daddy / grandparents will die all the sooner, making them rich rich RICH in the shortest possible time ...

smoking

My blog, my rules - this is only for smokers, and our special places to smoke. In fact the importance of having a special place to smoke. Whether you have one or two cigs a day, or a few a week, or whether you smoke thirty or more every day - it's time to make a special place, or talk about the special place you already, the haven where no-one can get on your case.

smoking

Any non-smokers who feel the urgent need to say smoking is unhealthy / a disgusting habit / they quit cold turkey from 100 a day and never looked back / any other hostile, pompous, boastful or unpleasant comments, should go look at a handy blog Harbal has up for unwanted comments. Our lungs, our choice. When we want to make it your choice we will ask for your opinion. Thank you for respecting our rights.

See now we'll see if there are rules within the blog.

Can I come in smoking a spliff?
Before you go, MiMi, you haven't got a light, have you?
I've lost quite a few friends to cancer. ALL of them were non-smokers.
None of my friends that smoke have died from a smoking related illness or cancer.

Can we have a blog for beer drinkers now please?

Molly reunion
I quit for a while and when I started again, one or two a day, even though I lived alone, I didn’t want to go through all the fuss of getting the smell out ever again. My courtyard became my special place, fab in summer, but I smoked there even mid-winter. In fact once I put on my wellies, my parka, my hat, my gloves, got my strongest umbrella because it was snowing so hard, went out to my smoking bench in my courtyard, and realized I had forgotten to take the cigarette.

dunno

Now I have a smoking terrace. (That's it, in my new profile pic) One good side-effect, it has halved the amount I smoke because I keep thinking I'll just finish this before I go out ...

I HAVE noticed I'm a bit tetchy. I wonder if abruptly halving my nicotine intake is having an effect roll eyes
Molly, only if you have enough for everyone scold
Mimi!!! reunion

You are smoking hot anyway batting
Molly

Any hotter, it’d be too hot to handle for my Arty! blushing grin

There are so many unhealthy things to do! Eating certain food, drinking certain drinks. After so many years! They come back and say that! Its not harmful at all. Anyway! as for smoking! Do this include smoking pot too?No! I do not smoke pot!

Just asking! Since you mention smoking. Because there is other things that can be smoked! So! which ones are we talking about. Or are we talking about everything that people can smoke??

There is a spray that I use. Fresh Wave= Odor Remover Spray. It take smoke out of the room. Out of your clothes. And sometimes I use; Tobacco Odor Remover air fresher, that take smoke smell out of the air. Plus! at the same time! I dont like to smell smoke myself. And I always open my patio door. To help clear out the smoke smell.......popcorn
When I shared a hut with y son I had to smoke in the kitchen area with walls you could see through. Had to dress like an Eskimo in winter just to have a smoke. Started smoking in bed again now that I have my own room. Not good as the smell gets into everything. It has benefits as the non smokers are not so eager to hug me anymore. laugh
Biff
Smoked salmon and hams and stuff next.

roll eyes Hail! Yeah

I also! love to respect people that! Do not like to smell smoke.
I will not smoke around them. Even when their at my house! I will go outside. Or I want smoke at all!
Hey, Angel, we have similar sprays, my UK favourite was Febreeze then they mucked with it and added a sickly sweet perfume, ew.

I can smoke indoors (and probably will again come wintry nights) but I really like having a place to go. I jest sits, and smokes, and thinks, and then I thinks some more, and then I go back inside. It makes a break in the day laugh

My smoking place has only recently been finished but yay I am loving it. There was a little song hopping through my brain, I could while away the hours, conferring with the flowers, consorting with the rain,
and my head I'd be scratching as my thoughts were busy hatching if I only had a

nice place to sit and smoke laugh
Biff

Got dog!.........................................rolling on the floor laughing
Eks, yeah, keeping non-smokers at bay is a definite advantage laugh especially the bossy ones who decide you need saving because you can never, ever, have realized this could possibly be harmful and you need a little lecture ...
Itchy, your own little haven is what you need laugh
I mean extra nicotine. I do know tobacco has nicotine naturally doh
Hello Biff wave As I m sitting here reading your blog, I m puffing away, shame on me. I don t bother anyone,, but there is still those non-smoking do gooders that have to tell that I shouldn t be smoking, very mad Years ago, it was those same do gooders that told me I drank too much, and should quit drinking, so I quit drinking, and soon after came down with MS, maybe I shouldn t have quit drinking confused If I quit smoking, what are those do gooders going to tell me next, to show off their care and good intentions.confused
oops, I m off topic, ( a place for smoking) here at our local casino ,there is an area for smokers, (half the size of the non smoking area). And all we get is non smokers playing slots in our area, complaining of the smoke, very mad Me being a gentleman, politely tell them> GO TO THE NON SMOKING AREA. At times, I don t think its not so much a smoking issue, but a telling, and ordering people what to do thing. (under the guise of health and safety. ) My opinion, now that I ve blown off some steam, I m going to have a coffee, and a smoke, rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
Smoke as much as you want, quit if you want, and when you want. : society is becoming too much fake and weird. Easy to buy cigarettes, but you can only smoke ... hidden !

I smoked 2/3 packs a day, for 20 years. I've been a non smoker for 2 years - stopped because smoking was not "fun" anymore.

Do what pleases you. Enjoy life,. (do smoke 1 for me too)wave

PS: as always wine
I tried smoking when I was 15. First attempt, coughed so hard like my lungs were gonna fall off!

That was the first and last time I’ve had a ciggie in my mouth.

Well, as for ‘cigars’.....that’s another story altogether wink blushing batting
Does a spliff count to join this crowd? peace
They are currently trying to pass a law in our country completely forbidding smoking in public. It goes with a 3 months jail sentence. Think our country will make history having people serving time for lighting a cigarette.
Hello ekself, but at least you won't go to jail for smoking weed anymore.applause
I puff on three smokes a day outside not inside as I loath the smell of smoke.

I can't stand smokers smoking near me either.
@Merc

thumbs up
writing durry, durry writing

Why that sounds ever so interesting, I'll be trying that for sure, yesiree roll eyes

You do live on the edge wow
What peeves me is that in 2019 the powers that be (i.e. the British government) are going to be banning menthol cigarettes in the UK for fear that kids will smoke them because they aren't like 'real' cigarettes !!! I only smoke menthols. What happened to freedom of choice?? sigh
Have two boxes of Cuban cigars, one of them is a box of Cohiba, Fidel's favorite. My sister brought them, waiting for the right occasion to light one of them.
Autumn, could be a blessing in disguise. The saltpetre in cigs (which keeps them burning, unlike a cigar) is apparently a bromide, and so apparently is menthol, so you've been giving your libido a double whammy laugh

But yup, we have free choice at all times. We simply have fewer options to choose from sigh
Wow, Track, could be the occasion for a cigar party (guests to bring their own, not smoke yours scold )

laugh
Only have 3 of Fidel's favorites. Special occasion one will be lit :)

I miss smoking good quality tobacco. One time, the premium brands in Canada was affordable and that was what most smoked but in later years with the insane taxes that is gone on smokes, in my neck of the woods, a pack of premium smokes is around $15. Paying over $12 now for the cheaper brand that I smoke.
puff, puff, puff.....
As an ex smoker it´s my duty to cough loudly and make over the top hand waving gestures in front of my face
