1984 & In the Year 2525

Orwell published "1984" in 1949. Years later, some of Orwell's predictions have come true.
Our digital privacy is constantly under attack. BIG BROTHER IS INDEED WATCHING

Which leads me to wonder, how many of Zager & Evans' predictions will come true from their song "In the Year "2525" Remember, that cool song?

Hi Turpl, nice to see you back in action! applause

Yes, I agree with the theme of your blog.thumbs up

YES, "Big Brother" is constantly watching and, worst still, everybody is seemingly obsessed with giving away all their private information. All social media should come with a warning "Everything you reveal is recorded for eternity, can and will be used against you".

However, this is likely to be ignored and all the predictions you referred to - and many more! - are highly likely to come true.

By 2525 I WILL have total control. So, just watch this space... transport transport transport
Hi Daniela,

It is almost inconceivable to imagine what the world will be like in 2525
At the beginning of the 20th century, horses were the mode of transportation. No radio, TV, etc
And now look at us
Kind of reminds me of Melanie's old song..." Look What They've Done to My Song"
Oh well...I should have put pictures of horses instead as they will be my only transport.dunno

I wouldn't mind writing letters again as this is all I knew until I got a PC 10 years ago.

As for messaging...what about smoke signals?

I think it will be the young people suffering the most.
Daniela,

When was the last time you received an actual hand written letter in the mail.
What a treat!!!!
A lot of our previous history is documented by hand written correspondence
And the penmanship was impeccable
Hand written letter? I think it was from my mother until quite recently as she doesn't have a computer nor cell phone.

I still receive Xmas cards now and then.

I must admit that since I started writing emails my spelling deteriorated as I can't see mistakes on the screen.

A handwritten letter certainly does it for me..as it's more personal.smitten
And it's also nice to open an envelope to see what's inside.

Anyway...back to your topic and the year 2525...I won't be here to see it but I can imagine that humanity will have destroyed the earth and will have to start from scratch again with only a few survivors.grin
There doesn't appear to be too many people that value the art of penmanship anymore. I love handwriting - and still write in a journal just to keep up my handwriting skills. It's also a wonderful view into the writer's personality, which typewritten words don't convey to the same extent.

As far as Big Brother's watching - yep. But, what are you going to do about it?

dunno
I also should add that when I first came to Spain I used to write all my stories by hand as I didn't have a computer.

I still have pages and pages of handwritten material.

To you wish to send me a hand written letter?
For me it means a lot as I can tell quite a bit from the handwriting.
Hi Lady wave

I agree with the handwriting.

Big Brother? Well...don't give personal details and cover your camera on your phone and computer for a start.wink
Hi Daniela! wave

Considering I never use the camera features on either one and haven't even activated them, I 'think' I'm okay. But who really knows? wow
I don't think you need to use it. Just cover the lens.

They can watch you whenever you use your phone or computer and know exactely what and whom you've been talking to and about...apparently?uh oh
Tup - that's so very true about unenlightened times. My older sister's hand was smacked with a ruler every time she used her left hand to write. My Mom, not wanting me to go through the same thing, forced me to use my right hand. I do most things right handed, but according to my doctors, left is actually my natural tendency.

That's probably why, when I broke my right wrist, that writing left handed wasn't actually that hard (way back then - don't know about now).

I took calligraphy and love all forms of handwriting. Sometimes, if I'm in a hurry, my handwriting will be kind of scribbly, but I think it's still legible. grin
Lady imp,

As a result of the "unenlightened" no left handers allowed practice, I have been rendered ambidextrous.
That has come in handy on many occasions.
Both of my daughters are lefties and their handwriting has a wild slant to it that is unique
Tup - my daughter's Godmother is a leftie, and her handwriting has a unique slant as well. I haven't seen my sister's handwriting in ages, so I'm not sure if she writes left or right nowadays. She does most things left-handed though. Her writing style was traditional, and like you, is ambidextrous. I am to a certain extent, but not as much as she is. That's a good thing, imo. thumbs up
LadyImp,
Which raises the question are left handed people INFP-s
I am and my daughters are.
Anyway, it is fun to be a "southpaw" as they call it
Interesting about the handwriting...quite fascinating actually.

I am right handed but can also use my left hand.

I know many left handed people who are very creative But I had never heard of INFP
Daniela,

INFP is a Meyers Briggs designation
I know...I had to look it up as I can't live in my ignorance before going to sleep wink
Daniela,

Sweet dreams then
We don’t know how far into the future that we will exist or what that existence will be like.
Have we done more harm to the earth than good? Will our advancements in technology, etc. also be our ultimate downfall?
Hello...I'm back wave

I did the test and I am ENFP..a campaigner? Free spirit..

As for your last question??? Well...I do have my theories but..I don't want to scare anybody.
Please scare us oh ENFP exalted onelaugh
How many more predictions have matured since you wrote this blog, Turpl? uh oh

Btw .. I made a mistake re the Myers test.
I happen to be an INFJ
according to the test that I took in three different languages.
