Regifting...
Maybe it's happened to you... receiving a gift that is similar to one you already own or a gift that really didn't fit your lifestyle? Touchy subject, as always there's a chance it will hurt someone's feelings to find you no longer have the gift they thought would be right for you. There are websites that discuss regifting. Some say it's a no-no while others give a list of regifting rules to follow to reduce the chance of embarrassment.
Last Christmas... actually BEFORE Christmas, I warned family not to buy me presents. I've been planning a move and need to drastically reduce my inventory of clothes and technological gadgets. That said, my daughter gave me Alexa, the Echo Dot from Amazon.
Groan... okay, it's setup in the living room.
I've got bamboo steamers, food dehydrators and lots of shirts. Good thing they stopped giving me cologne as I haven't worn any in a generation.
What's the consensus on regifting here?

ps - I now have one big Alexa and two dots. I should gift one of the dots.
Goodwill is NOT a charity. (The owner is a millionaire. The main good will is you helping him become richer).
I also don't waste money on cards. I take a five dollar bill and make it into a card. to you from me rather than give it to Hallmark.
I've also never given money as a gift, except to a charity.
When I do give gifts, to people I know, thought goes into what the individual enjoys and can use.
I've seen on a few sites that it's important in some Asian cultures to give cash at a wedding. Basically, they are using the gift money to pay for the event.
We buy red envelopes for specifically for this. Different sayings on the outside for different occasions. My wife translates for me.
