From the Hobbit holes of the Shire to the River of Lava in mount doom, some of the best books i have ever read in my life, Tolkien's books are some of the most descriptive i have ever read

The world is divided into two halves - Those who have read Lord of the Rings, and those who are going to.... Surely, that's one of THE highest pieces of critical acclaim any critic has ever given a book.

They quite simply changed my world and set the bar for all, and I mean ALL other fantasy novels that followed...

It seems ages ago since i read the Lord of the Rings. I read it three times and even in a time i should have studied for my exams instead of reading Tolkiens books. But there was no defense against it. Tolkien set a milestone in such away that it will be nearly impossibe to surpass it. Every other fantasy writer is/was more or less influenced by J.R.R. And the biggest merrit is that he made
the categorie acceptable and in doing so opened the gate for all the other enthralling bards.

Great book, read it several times, first in English - many years ago - and later in Russian (it's my native) when it was translated by two different translators (read both variants)very interesting, rich of characters and creatures, events, cannot but admire the author's creative imagination and language.

I lived in these books with the various characters and their quests and worries and trials. It's not often that you come across a book where you have to delve into so many different imagined cultures with their own uniqueness. You dont want to come out of it until you see that the character has survived or that the villian is defeated. Its like entering a parallel universe.!!! I had to get my own copy to keep. My daughter would only let me borrow hers.

A MASTER PIECE UNSURPASSED BY ANY BEFORE OR SINCE. IT CONTAINS SUCH DEPTH OF CULTURES, LEGENDS, AND LORE THAT IT WOULD BE EASY TO BELIEVE TOLKIEN WAS JUST RELATING HIS LIFE AND WORLD EXPERIENCES AS A NATIVE OF MIDDLE EARTH.
I ONLY WISH I HAD SUCH LITERARY TALENT.
