One for your kindle - local writer whodunits and this is the only omnibus so far. Some of the earlier books are in paperback. I spend a lot of time on flights these days (LDR) and these are ideal reading, enough story to be distracting and light-hearted. Helps to have an interest in Scotland, but not essential.

Ideal for anyone who has read and enjoyed one of the later books out of sequence, or claimed the short story offer on the http://elegsabiff.com website and decided to try the series. The books are whodunits in the cozy tradition, fun to read, with engaging characters and nicely-plotted murders.

The four main characters are in late middle age, and are enjoying early retirement with gusto: Grasshopper Lawns is a retirement village in Scotland for people over fifty five who have had interesting lives and want to continue to do so. It got even more interesting when the murders started...

The first book, One Two Buckle My Shoe, introduces golden girls Edge Cameron and Vivian Oliver, lifelong friends and now neighbours, who aren't at all surprised that Betsy Campbell got murdered. They're definitely intrigued, but in the end solving the murder requires joining forces with the outrageously charming William Robertson and a sardonic new neighbour, Donald MacDonald

Three Four Knock On My Door puts the amateur sleuths back to work, as strangers come knocking, and not even Death is exactly who he seems to be. Problem dog Maggie inadvertently lends a paw in solving the murders.

Five Six Pick Up Sticks dives gleefully into the deep end of internet dating for senior singles, where the predators lurk. Looking for love has proved a dead end for some, and Police Scotland want to know why. Sergeant Kirsty Cameron's Aunt Edge is ideal to play the face of their investigation, and she'll be monitored at all times. Nothing can go wrong...

The books are fun, light-hearted, fiendishly plotted and true to their whodunit formula: every clue is tucked away in clear sight, so the armchair detective knows exactly as much as the characters do and can solve the mystery for themselves. Game on.
