Philosophos
In this story, the Italian intellectual Umberto Eco narrates the adventures of a castaway in the seventeenth century, when a nobleman reaches "the limits and borders of the Earth" and notes its sphericity that was still doubtful.

The adventure is permeated by innumerable perspectives and impressions of the character about its personal values (even its own life and past) related to the Weltanschauung of the world, dealing with Philosophy, Science (especially Navigation), metaphysical questions and finally the discovery of a "New World" that goes beyond lands and peoples.
It also underlies epistemological aspects of nascent modern Science, romanticized by the beautiful history of this great writer.
