I had actually never heard of these books till a couple months ago... I was at the airport looking for something to read and one of the employees suggested this.. so i bought it and by the time i had landed i had finish more than half of the book.. It was so well written and full of great characters that I could not put it down.. i got so wrapped up in getting to know more about each character that by the time I reached the 3rd book "hornets nest" i almost felt like they are people i know.. i am only sad that steig passed away before he could complete his series. if anyone is looking for something new to read try theese books you will not be dissapointed..

This is a slow starter. Stick with it and you won't be dissappointed. I've also read the second and enjoyed it even more!

I don't usually read fiction but this book was recommended by friends. I'm usually a slow reader and have never read a fiction book this long. I went through this book very quickly; I could barely put it down...addictive. I've started the second book but am afraid to get into it because i won't get anything else done if I really get into it and if it is as good as the first one.

Wouldn't have stuck with this lot but that a friend recommended them so highly so I read them all. The whole Scandinavian setting was good. At some point they may be edited properly and it will improve them very much because the story is erratic and drags at times, but overall an interesting read.

one of the best books i've read, and i've only read one, till later i found out they were actually a series of them. Definately a must read, once it grabs you it won't let you go, try the movie it's also a good one, specially if you're in love of the new james bond actor.

I've started reading them this year, I started slow and steady with the first, but when I got to the middle of the second, it didn't let me go till I finished the third.... It was awesome!

I was given the first book off a friend, I too found it very difficult to read at first. Persevere though you get to a point and before you know it you will have finished the third. I was devastated when I found out the author had died. Can't bring myself to read the follow up because they are not written by him.

Storyline

A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue.... It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden...and about her octogenarian uncle, determined to know the truth about what he believes was her murder.

It's about Mikael Blomkvist, a crusading journalist recently at the wrong end of a libel case, hired to get to the bottom of Harriet's disappearance...and about Lisbeth Salander, a 24-year-old, pierced and tattooed genius hacker possessed of the hard-earned wisdom of someone twice her age, who assists Blomkvist with the investigation.

This unlikely team discovers a vein of nearly unfathomable iniquity running through the Vanger family, astonishing corruption in the highest echelons of Swedish industrialism - and an unexpected connection between themselves.
