This Report out of Iran:
WOMAN BLINDED BY ACID WANTS SAME FATE FOr ATTACKER
Amench Bahrami is now blind, the victim of an acid attack by a suitor who was spurned. Apparently the 31 year old woman was being pursued for some time by this man but she was not interested, she had also been receiving threats from the man even as her pursued her for marriage.
In November, 2004 the threats turned violent, he followed her as she walked from work, she turned and saw him, he then proceeded to douse her with the acid, blinding her. Now he is behind bars and Amench wants him to be blinded himself as punishment. She is fearfull he might do this to someone else.
Apparently an Iranian court is giving her her wish. Her attacker is to be blinded with drops of acid in each eye and his appeal has apparently been rejected. As for Amench herself, she has had to undergo numerous surgeries to her badly scarred face.
my animal instinct says yes, blind him too but my feelings as a civilised person are that two wrongs don't make a right and to do something like that judicially debases society. i think he should be made to do charity work for blind people for the rest of his life.

As a Christian...I'd have to say no. I am against the eye-for-an-eye concept!! WWJD????
If we all got what we deserved, the world would be full of silence...our tongues would all be cut out. Our legs would be gone for kicking people when they are down. Our hands would be chopped off for every tine we didn't lift a hand to help those in need and our hearts would be still because of the hate we harbor to each other and God's universe as a whole!!

Ok....... maybe he should just have his goolies removed - is that better?
According to a guy I know, who is a qualified minister, God (the Christian God) is unchanging - and the 'eye for an eye' God of the Old Testament is the same as the God in the New Testament........... just the penalty for our sins is paid for by a.n.other (Jesus).
In Iran they probably don't acknowledge Jesus in quite the same way - so different rules apply.
It's a misconception that the Christian God isn't the same God who instructed some dude to sacrifice his own son.......... and later a woman in another story when God demanded as sacrifice the first thing that came through the door if He helped this tribe beat another tribe in battle.......... and the first thing that came through the door was this dude's daughter!
If God is unchanging then he seems quite ok with the concept of 'an eye for an eye' - He is a jealous God who had condemned us all to Hell if we do not acknowledge Him as our God and Jesus our Saviour (however good we may try to be in this life)............ God is not a forgiving God at all.
rusty_knight: Sorry............. I agree with you, and have always believed that a simplistic faith as defined by those two commandments are all that really matter - the rest is immaterial!
This guy believes God does still require blood sacrifice as atonement for sins - and that's the whole point of Jesus being physically sacrificed...AND that Jesus existed in the Old Testament too and there are quotes in the bible of God being constant etc....... however, I believe that the truth is out there somewhere, but totally corrupted by mankind!

crap before i go lemme see if i can beat PM to the punch here
jesus blood is sacrifice as animals blood was sacrifice its just a symol of sacrificing something of value as a show of interest and commitment
we dont appreciate what we dont earn thats our human animal nature thats where our intellect screws us-dumb animals appreciate everything so who is the dumb one? but i digress
jesus said as he died-it is done he was part of old law ways so it was done-the day of sacrifice-of being under law was done we were graduated to being made accountable to only love ourselves as them
the hope was that we had matured like young people-our kids we hope they need less rules and can self govern right?
well im guessing we werent ready- as i look at my own behavior anyway... leaves alot to be desired
god loves us as a parent sort of-and as children ideally we would play nice not caue harm and get along in life he helps but he is helpless in many ways we must learn on our own
how we doin?
i mean god made this new way and hasnt gone back on his word-we are not under law or restraints and we sort of suck at all this freedom
I think that there crimes so greivious.....child molestation....and such as this....that they truely do greive the heart of God.
And though in my thinking, mind and heart God is a mercifull God. He is also a fair and just God.
Jesus also talked about giving the sword to the governments. To the government authorities to use to defend the people of the land.
Jesus did not take down from the cross or protect the two thieves that were crucified with him. Rather to the two, one he gave the sight of a heavenly glory and the other that denied him....well time will tell there.
So what ever earthly judgement is given this man....I don't see heavenly intervention coming for him.

I already commented on this...I agree with what she is doing...the law is very seldom used and this woman is using it to take a stand against this type of violence against women...as opposed to taking blood money to say.."It's ok what you did to me...thanks for the money to pay for my medical bills for the horror you inflicted on me". She is doing this in the hopes that it will stop this type of horror from happening to other women and attempting to use it as a deterrent...which may just work if the perpetrator is subject to the same kind of horror....I applaud her efforts....

do you honestly think this guy don't deserve it?
Is there any place in the Bible that says..* Do anything you want to others.. there will be no payback?*
If someone were to pick up a gun, rob and kill one of my children..Just hope the cops find him before I do.
Tsk Tsk........Yes he deserves it. But if we all got what we deserve, where would we all be. Except for the few high and mighty people on this site who see themselves above having ever done wrong??

I can show you in the new testament where it was asked "how many times shall I forgive my brother? Seven? And the reply was ..no...seventy times seven! Not easy to take but since you brought up the Bible, I thought I would throw in my two cents, although the mods will now say I am bullying you. I'm not

I am unfamiliar with these teachings. Could you lease give book chapter and verse. It would surely help.
