jlw45: a journalist icon has passed away....the last of an era...are there any true journalists left?
Paul Harvey was not a journalist. He did on radio what Jeanne Moss does now on CNN: fluff pieces, intended to fill time. He was syndicated entertainment, like David Letterman's top ten list. I didn't wish him ill or dead, but let's not pretend was anything else.
As for real journalism, there hasn't any been any on TV or radio in the US since the 1980s when corporations bought the media under Reagan. There is no Fourth Estate in the US, not even on PBS or NPR.
