Phoenix: OUR HOME....This is the place where we live and when big mama earth gets pissed off at us mortals and unleases a few tsunami's, the odd earth qsuake and a volcanco here and there (and they cause all sorts of damage to our eco system)....but thats ok..It's big mama

I'm all for harnessing all the energy from the sun....it's clean, it's there 24/7-365....

But I don't buy into it's all our fault....big mama plays her part too.

Hiya Phoenix. Wow, was gobsmacked that this thread has re-surfaced.

Yeps you are right, Big Mama does have some stuff to answer for, but, I can't say it's her fault that I've started suffering from all sorts of allergies and that I have become so chemically sensitive. I was never surrounded by so much pollution both inside and outside the house! We used simple soap and grandma's recipes when I was young, now we CLEAN the house and ourselves with contents from plastic bottles with skulls and WARNINGS printed all over the place! So much for progress and a better life! Open the windows to get *fresh* air? I live on a busy road, so, in my dreams! doh

And who ask you to buy the bottle stuff...Did someone hold a gun to your head and say..."twin, buy the horrible bottle stuff to clean your home?"

What's wrong with keeping with grandma way(hot water, soap and elbow grease)...If it's not broken, don't fix it.

I was talking in the *general* sense. Who says I don't use Grandma's recipes still? grin As I've said, I've become chemically sensitive etc...so most of my cleaning aides are home-made! grin

Seems like we're both suffering from insomnia... it's 3am here!

Lol....no worries. You can use me as an example all you want, as long as it's for a good cause. Roll up your sleeves and use that elbow grease folks! grin

Mmm mee... well hard day, wanted an early night, but incessant pleas from a family member to get something I had promised done *RIGHT NOW*, (no matter that it past everyone's bedtime), twisted my plans. And, guess you know what happens, suddenly you don't feel sleepy/tired anymore. dunno

God help me wake up at 6.20....if I manage to get any sleep at all!

Oh nice thread - thanks for re-surfacing it!

Talking about all the modern bottled stuff something puzzles me......... I ponder howcome when I was young (last century!) us kids (and everyone) washed their hair with ordinary plain soap and it was clean and shiny? NOW hair goes all grungy and wirey unless one uses special shampoos, conditioners, re-conditioners, rejuvenating conditioners, frizz control sprays, hot-oil hair treatments and hair-masques.....!!!!!!!!

Oh we washed our hair in rain-water, and put some vinegar in the rinse water (for brunette) or lemon juice (for blondes)........ But that don`t work anymore....confused

.............oOo.............

In my search for the "perfect" cleaning agents - have found a simple solution - the basic products!.....

Concentrated Vinegar for lime build-up cleaning (essential here in CH)....... and

Bicarbonate of Soda for grease cleaning.......

..............oOo................

...But I still puzzled over the hair story?dunno
