With all the hoop la about us all being honest let me just say I think that honesty with out wisdom can be a very brutal thing. So many times we say "oh I was just telling them the truth" when we decimated someone else's feelings and we are honest with ourselves when we "told the truth". Telling the truth requires wisdom. So here is is let's make up a new proverb.

i agree. and telling little white lies, or trying to protect someone's feelings maybe not an honest thing to do, but i believe it to be a morally right thing to do as long as it hurts no one in the long run.
Big_John: ...when you ask someone to be honest with you, don't get angry with them if their honesty isn't what you wanted to hear.
You have a point but what I am talking about is more like unsolicited honesty. Even if someone asks for it we can consider that persons feelings and tell them things wisely, not knock them over the head with it. Especially keeping in mind that none of us are perfect.
