I'd like to hear from some Europeans on this. I've heard it has been implemented already to some extent? What have you noticed? Are prices of supplements going up and are they harder to find? Prepare for famine!! Stock up now.

Shannara Johnson —

Ever heard of the Codex Alimentarius? If not, don't be surprised. It's one of the best-kept "open secrets" of the U.S. government. The World Trade Organization (WTO) has accepted the standards of the Codex, and at some point, if their plans are allowed to proceed, member countries of the WTO will be required to implement Codex, "to harmonize the standards" for the global trade of foods.

It may present the greatest disaster for our food supply—and thus for our health—that we have ever encountered, here and abroad.

The Codex Alimentarius agenda, which has long metastasized in the recesses of closed board rooms and governmental chambers, is now coming to light.

This is the paramount issue of our times, yet few know about it. If Codex standards ever replace the current laws in the U.S. governing food and dietary supplements, it will affect not just Americans' right to choose supplements, but our right to grow crops with untampered seeds, to buy pure organic food, and to live free of the tyranny of Big Agro-Chem-Pharma-Med, through health-destructive FDA rules enacted and enforced by a pro-corporate government that cares nothing about our health freedom.

In other words, the "natural health" industry will perish. Now more than ever, we must exercise our democratic duty and be vigilant in protecting that freedom, the health and survival of the Earth, and all her creatures and citizenry.help

Wow, the apathy.sleep Either people know all about this or they don't care. The most Draconian laws ever to regulate our health, this will affect EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THE EARTH!, and people don't even care?yawn

Sometimes I think the "useless eaters" deserve everything happening to them and all the things yet planned for them. I almost admire the elite in a way, how they have everybody in their palm.smitten

So go ahead, read this and go back to sleep.

Disinformation: “Codex is Urban Legend”
The otherwise well-respected urban legends site snopes.com features an article called “Vitamin See” (the reason for this strange name remains unclear to me). In it, the author, Barbara Mikkelson, claims to “debunk” the notion that Codex represents a danger to nutrient access and health freedom. She also makes the incorrect claim that nutrients are dangerous and that we must be protected from them.

Ms. Mikkelson quotes an Internet article by Dr. Wallace G. Heath which makes several accurate, and some inaccurate, statements about Codex Alimentarius. Instead of giving us research on which statements are accurate and which are not, Ms. Mikkelson article on snopes.com suddenly diverges from the statements of Dr. Heath to a lambasting of natural supplements, by through numerous unsupported, factually incorrect statements.

This page seeks to bring to light the factual errors of Ms. Mikkelson’s article.

Unsupported Attacks on Nutritional Supplements
Mikkelson says absurd things about supplements such as,

“Despite their presence on store shelves, not all dietary supplements are safe for consumers to use, let alone are beneficial to their health.”

[Dr. Laibow: which dietary supplements are unsafe for consumers to use and which are not beneficial to their health?]
“Products can be 100% natural yet deliver a deadly payload, as have some in the past.”

[Dr. Laibow: which products that are 100% natural deliver a "deadly payload" and what incidents is she discussing?]

“Lacking regulation of such ingestibles, there is no protection afforded consumers and authoritative-looking labels are no guarantee that what is being vended in those bottles they envelop is not harmful.”

[Dr. Laibow: all supplements made and marketed in the United States are regulated by the FDA]

“Under current law, dangerous supplements get onto the market and stay there.”

[Dr. Laibow: dangerous supplements are removed promptly, unlike dangerous drugs]

“Serious physical harm resulting among those who use them, as was the case with ephedra, which caused strokes, heart attacks, and upwards of 150 deaths.”

[Dr. Laibow: the causal relationship of ephedra to any death, stroke, etc., has not only never been established, but has been thrown out by a Federal Court since it was totally unsubstantiated by either science or clinical experience.]

“In 2004, according to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, almost one in five Americans reported using a supplement, which means the pool of folks at risk is great.”

[Dr. Laibow: the U.S. Government examined all reported cases of ephedra related deaths and found no association between the substance and the deaths. Ms. Mikkelson chooses to ignore this fact]

Vaccine refusals spur outbreak fears

MARIA DANILOVA
Associated Press
March 26, 2009
KIEV, Ukraine — A widespread scare about vaccine side effects in Ukraine has led to a sharp drop in immunizations that could result in disease outbreaks spreading beyond the former Soviet republic, international and local health officials say.

Hundreds of thousands of fearful Ukrainians have refused vaccines for diseases such as diphtheria, mumps, polio, hepatitis B, tuberculosis, whooping cough and others this year, according to official estimates. Authorities have cancelled a UN-backed measles and rubella vaccination campaign funded by U.S. philanthropist Ted Turner, and will have to collect and incinerate nearly nine million unused doses in coming months.

“I never thought I’d see the day where perfectly good vaccines are being destroyed,” said Michael Bociurkiw, a spokesman for UNICEF.

Around the world, health officials say they are struggling with the repercussions of vaccine fears they call unwarranted and dangerous.

In 2003, imams in northern Nigeria fomented a boycott of polio vaccinations claiming they were a Western plot to make Muslims infertile or infect them with HIV. Authorities in Indonesia are discussing a plan to end childhood immunizations against a number of diseases out of fears that foreign drug companies are using the country as a testing ground. A budding movement of parents getting exemptions from pre-school vaccination laws is seen as partly responsible for a spike in U.S. measles cases.
