Ladies and gentlemen, are you hooking up routinely with Mr. or Ms. Right knowing fully that they are not the marrying kind?
There is an old joke in the dating world: A man is always in search of a woman who
1) cooks like Julia Child and bakes like Betty Crocker; 2) is a lady in the streets but a fox behind closed doors, and 3) supports and inspires him to pursue his dreams with reckless abandon despite all obstacles and political odds.
But the punch line is that never should these three women meet.
Same goes for women, I'd think but I wouldn't know - have to hear from men if they had a similar "empty-ventures-drifting-into-nowhere" experiences.
I never heard the term "serial dating" until I joined POF. I met a lady from there who stated in her profile that she was not interested in a serial dater. She was looking for something "substantial"
Well, we met and had a good date. When we parted, I put out my hand to shake hands and wish her good night, Instead she pulled me to her and kissed me. I thought, this is great...she likes me
When I called about another date, she said she isn't interested in just dating one guy yet and wasn't ready to get into a LTR.
By the way..she is still on POF and still trying to avoid serial daters!!

What a faboulous story, Ship!!! Thank you!
You just confirmed my theory that people usually label others with sins they themselves feel guilty of....

I think it's fairly easy to avoid "serial dating": know what you want and be serious about getting it.
I think that kind of dating is appropriate for young people who are discovering themselves and what they want. Later in life, it's more about avoiding commitment, I think.

Thank you, J.! Hmmm.... avoiding commitment?
You might be on something here. Never thought of it this way.
So you don't think it's about searching for the right person, or getting to know your partner before taking a plunge? But either "being stuck in one's teen years" or most probably simply avoiding commitment.
Can't agree with 'fairly easy to avoid "serial dating"' part, though, -
where another person, a perfect stranger, is involved, some things are beyond our control, no?
