Good morning Kiss....

I'm hoping to hear about the time you ran away as a child.

Where did you go,
how old were you when you did it,
were you caught or did you go back home on your own.

And how did your parents handle it.

i could never put my loved ones through that..

but my sister did..and my parents found her
at one of her friends..but just let her go
through what she had to and let her come home when
she wanted..

she was maybe arouond 14..but she trusted the family..

then she left to manitoba with my older brother ..

Kiss, I read my post over and I see it was written poorly. I meant to say: I hope to hear about "people" if they ran away from home. I'm sorry it sounded like I directed it to you blues

I am a person who believes that bad news does not get better with time and that problems unsolved are bigger when you get around to them. I have alway been a person who attacks issues head on. Even in business I tried to only touch a problem once. Putting something in your in-basket to work later and picking it up and putting it down over and over again I found is unproductive. So I guess I'm telling you I am not the type of person who runs from problems. I tried to keep that rear view mirror clean.

I guess you could say that I did "run away" laugh When my daughter moved to Australia I tied up my loose ends, sold my business and went backpacking around the world for 3 years... Then I settled on a little island off the coast of Spain... which seems so removed from the day to day crap I lived with in the States. Some would see it as an escape, I see it as living the life that suits me!

I wanted to run away as a teenager...did, twice, to friends' houses. I finally ran away at 17 with my parents' permission...into the Army, turned 18 in boot camp.

Do I ever still want to run away? Sure, I have my moments when I'd love to just keep driving. But, the reality is that you're right, my problems will still be there, regardless. And my sons are here...I won't leave them. So, eventually reality sinks in and I come back home gratefully. wine

I don't recall ever wanting to run away as a child.

But now as an adult when I find myself struggling to deal with something like family, friends, relationship, work, finances etc.I want to just pack up my clothes and leave all my material things behind cause to me they're only things away and just literally run away to another town and start over where no one knows me.There were times when I'd be traveling that I just wanted to just keep right on going and not look back.

But then reality sinks in and of course no matter where I'd end up I realized that I don't get to just leave my problems behind.

It depends what your problems are.... and what you want to escape from. I was to caught up in materialism and the old consumer lifestyle.... getting away from all that was the best thing I ever did!

Not exactly running away, but similar...I woke on my 17th birthday to hear my parents arguing over whether I would return to school in the fall or go in the service. One said I was'nt smart enough for school (AD)the other said I could'nt handle discipline, so no to service. Four day's later I joined the Navy.banana

When I was married, I thought about 'running away', but I would never have left my daughter with her father, alone. I just hated my life with him so much... but not her.

After we separated, & I had to deal with her ADD & the schools... & having her diagnosed... & the cost of counseling & prescriptions, yes, I definitely thought of just 'escaping it all'. But none of this was her fault. And as hard as it was, she was still my baby. She has since grown into such a great, independent, intelligent young woman. And I'm very proud of her! smitten

Many times I have wanted to up and run away. But it would dawn on me that was not the answer. Only once did I ever run away, though really it was standing my ground and walking out on an abusive situation. And in that case it was indeed the answer.
