Vancouver is likely to have more work available than Victoria, and you're not "trapped" on an island, although being from Ireland, that might not bother you.laugh
I've never been to Victoria, but seen tons of pictures, and it is lovely. Vancouver's nice too, and might be better suited for a younger person.
The climate is pretty close to the same, although Vancouver might get a little more rain. They're both way warmer than anywhere else in Canada during the winter, and snow isn't a common site, at least not for long.

As of today, the newspaper stated BCs job losses are at 61,300
Not much work in Vancouver, or Victoria. The province of Sask has the lowest unemployment rate anywhere in Canada..but then again, who would want to live there. Bugs in the summer the size of full grown horses, and in the winter time, you stand around watching your fingers fall off from frostbite.
I am Canadian.... yee-ha canada

Victoria is prettier and the lifestyle is slower paced and more relaxed. Vancouver has far more jobs and access to much more than Victoria has and is much quicker paced.

There are 2 things that I have a strong opinion about regarding Vancouver...they really better get their act together at the airport if they plan on providing anything that resembles service to hundreds of thousands of people at the Olympics and the violent crime rate is over the top/ as is the gang activity. Personally, I would have no desire to live there...jmho angel
