First of all... waking up means it's a great day, knowing my kids, fiancee, and family are still here.

Might sound bad, but even though my mother is going through what she is dealing with, knowing she is still relatively healthy, and still here makes appreciating each day something not to be taken for granted.

My Uncle (Mother's brother) returned to Ireland today.

It was very sad to see him go, and watch him and my mother hug and say their good byes. One aunt (my mother's youngest sister) leave next week. There is another aunt (mother's sister), that has been here since January.

Every day they were here together (first time all of them at the same time), was an awesome day.

My Uncle went with my mother each time she went through her first round of chemo. He was the best person to be there with her. Those were awesome days. His love, support and calm personality made things bearable for my mother. It was wonderful to have another visit with him, and get to know him more. He was not really supposed to take the trip, due to his own health. How much he loved and wanted to support my mother through all of this, taught me a lot. He is a great man.

Every meal the last 4 remaining members of my mother's family, or just sitting around watching them talk, or interact with each other was amazing. All of them are holding on to each other as much as possible, since they are the last 4 siblings left out of a family of 17.

Life has not always been very easy for them, especially growing up. No matter what their differences are, they can be counted on when needed.

Each day with them, has been an awesome day.

Now we need to keep my mother from thinking that was their final good bye and that she will be making that planned visit to Ireland in September.

... on another note ... watching how far the kids have come since they have been in my mother's care ... makes for a great day. One little guy decided to run around the house and say my name over and over. That was totally awesome since he had never said it before. banana

28 yrs ago my oldest son was born. April 28 ... is the day an awesome baby was born. At 6 yrs old Dr.s did not want me to get my hopes up, well, he surpassed all the expert's expectations. Every day with him is great .... same with his sister .... and brother.

Sorry folks... it's a very sentimental day for moi.

happy place

That is cool Kim. And I sincerely hope she does make that trip to Ireland in Sept. Sounds like it would be good for your mother's siblings too.
