Ive done something to my dishwasher - a couple of weeks ago I turned it on and it flooded the kitchen, it could well have been because Id forgotten to buy the detergent and put a normal soap powder one in
anyways, when I went to switch it on again it just blew the circuit, luckily its a mercury one so its just a case of flipping it back on - Im used to fixing stuff myself but havent even started to check this yet, could it just be that the fuse in the appliance itself has gone?

Be carefully.... Lady..... u need a handyman......
ali110: it must be in warrenty so go to the dealer
If it trips the breaker, there must be a grounded wire or a short circuit. You may need someone to check that out, unless you know how to use an ohmmeter.

another thing that had occured to me too - I dont have an ohm meter but I have a fully charged electrical screwdrive and will check the fuse thing first then the back is coming off - when Ive eaten my lunch Ill have to turn the comp off as its on the same circuit

If it flooded over, it may have gotten water and soap in the motor and controls. The water will dry eventually but the soap will stay there. Any of it could short it iut and cause it to pop the breaker.

Sounds like you have some serious issues with the electrical installation. You may have to hook up with a starving, retired, electrician.

Most likely its the printed circuit board, but get the model number to hand, and ring a local appliance engineer, and make sure you get one with no call out charge, that's normally a sign their honest!
It's normally always the printed circuit board or the pump that goes....
Hi Trish, First the flooding problem... could be the pump that pumps the water out of the machine is either blocked or broken which caused your flood which then got things wet and shorted you out. Let it dry and then check your electricals, you may have to replace the fuse and then check your pump mechanism. Hope this helps... I had to fix mine a couple of years ago when the pump went out, it was pretty simple.

Hi Jacqui, I figure the pump would have stopped cos the normal soap powder tablet was too sudsy for it and I did leave it to dry but when I tried plugging it in again it just blew everything I think you are right, fix the fuse first
