I'm now in my 60's. I just declared bankruptcy. Never thought that my life would end up this way. Such is life. Two marriages, two beautiful daughters. Now alone and feeling it.

The "White Picket Fence and Home", dream, that many of us had, my generation anyway, was just one more delusion added to the insane belief that we actually knew what we were doing.

To the 20's & 30's members here......please create a new world. My generation screwed you, and for that I apologize.

I am sorry that you had to declare bankruptcy BUT You have friends and family and we here who love you. You peeve me a little when you apologize for your generation . Hell! Some of the best people were brought up in your generation and mine also.

It is what those offspring do with it. boxing
Geez ,leo, I understand your depression and the feeling of failure but HELL everyone down my way (it seems) has to do it also.
A few suicides are happening over it.
What the hell are 'THINGS'?
I will stop now. Just know that a whole lot of us on C/S love you and I am sure the same is with your family.comfort hug teddybear

Gentlepaws I am sorry for your situation. It must be horrible to lose everything. With that said, I totally disagree with your statement that "...My generation screwed you...." We accomplished many things over the past few decades. We did not do anything to cause whatever it is you think is ongoing. Life today is still good.

First, let me say, it is the same story all over the world,,,,,

However, some people may say: it is the journey that counts NOT the destination which I truly and strongly believe.
Looking back and seeing the road I have traveled, I can proudly say it’s “My WAY” the people I have met and smiles I have left, the contribution I have made and the statement I have said.
Those material things like “white fence” will never stand in the face of time but your two daughters will truly continue your legacy.
So, IMHO, those two living souls are your true and biggest accomplishments which you should value more than “white fence”. Let me say to you my friend, YOU DID IT and truly stated “MY WAY”. Hold your head up and high for the things you have done to others more than what you have done to yourself. Great obstacles makes Great men and that My friend is WHO YOU ARE.

There's nothing wrong with wanting a white picket fence, but if I MAKE MY HAPPINESS depend on it,I'm setting myself up for disappointment.
JMO

Why not try being happy without the white picket fence?
Reminds me of a story of a friend of mine who lost everything due to drugs and now has renewed faith in a higher power and believes in prayer but also wants 50,000 dollars on the side.....just in case the prayer doesn't work.
