no matter what we think, we need them, if there wasnt police there would be more crap than there is allready. And i know some personally and i know what they see and go thru and have to go home and deal with.

i perved on your profile and fair play to you for your service you have given to the people you protected....
Here our police are called Gardai thats the irish word for police and most of them are doing fine jobs in such hard times as they are not armed and have put their lives at risk in the line of duty.....only a few weeks ago a young policeman lost his fight for life after been mowed down by a joyrider in a stolen car, he was only 29 years old so its easy so slag off those that protect us......

I don't blame the police as much as I blame the law-makers. They just enforce the laws they're handed.
Here's a true story. I used to live right on a main thoroughfare here in PDX. I was sitting on my porch one night and I counted 32 patrol cars whizzing by code two, lights flashing but no sirens. Here I am thinking, jeez a major terrorist event, or a bank robbery, or something.
10 minutes later, I had to cruise down that same street for a reason I can't recall. All the cruisers were at Krispy Kreme. Was it being robbed? No, they were having a sale on day old donuts.
Just like any other job, there will be those who are good, and those who are not. I have found that the good are ignored do to those who are really screwing up. And it's sad. I am proud of those who continue to serve the communities they are in even with so many who are against them.
And I really like the song Every Breathe You Take.

When I have to call the police, and granted that's a rare occurrence when I can't handle a situation myself, I give them all the respect and cooperation I can. They're just people doing a very hard job.
What I don't like is the bored officer that doesn't like my look so he pulls me over to make sure I'm not doing anything "wrong".
And then he wants to search me. Since when is breathing grounds for probable cause?

ohhh i understand you fully Galactic, my experience with the police has not been great, and mine was in relation with my husband's inquest i was treated with no respect i was made feel so bad at a very sad and hard time of my life. But i look at that with my eyes wide open he was only one of many and i wasnt let him take my respect away from all the others in the force.....

And that deserves a Code 2?
I understand about the doughnut syndrome and they're are bad cops(human frailty) no doubt but let me enlighten you a little for you seem to be a very reasonable person ie: 10/13 in New York City meant assist police officer which everyone available responds, most times unfounded but you still go regardless. People say where is a cop when you need them(shortage of manpower per capita in especially big cities) When you make arrest at least in NYC that leaves a manpower shortage and the greatest travesty(only speaking for NYC)Have psycho( emotionally disturbed as we had to call them later on symantics via George Carlin who by the way I loved) I've spent numerous times a whole shift and then was relieved by the incoming tour.
goodfriend: Where i live we dont have enough of them, seemingly our young ones dont want a career in the police force..
It's a hard and thankless job. I'm not knocking the police who do their best to be professional and do the job. I'm knocking the police who think that wearing a badge makes them better, more moral, and less prone to temptation.
Wearing blue doesn't make you Superman. It just makes you a man (or woman) with a tough job.
