I would think, that those so-called friends are big time trouble.
Could you trust him/her, when you are away? I have a feeling that he/she is involved in activities with those so-call friends, that you do not approve of, and that person knows it.
I think there is big time touble brewing. The trust is already in trouble. And it is a matter of time when that trouble will present itself.
Why doesn't he want you to meet them? Does he think you won't like them, or that they won't like you? I would tend to wonder what he's up to with them - maybe he's scared someone will become an information pipeline for you if you get to know them.
Don't know about you, but there's lots of red flags popping up here for me.

probably coz he dosnt want them telling you what he really gets up to, or he might be jealous that his mates might like you, it all boils down to posesiveness and controling personality, my x husband was just like that. any case its a bad situation if he dosnt change id run get out of there

Had an ex-boyfriend as well, where the posessive and controlling thing was to blame. When the excuse is 'he wants you all to himself' or doesn't trust his friends, It should be a red flag to run for the hills. 'Spotlight' song by Jennifer Hudson says it all.
