What is your idea of the perfect holiday? Is it time at home? An island vacation? Perhaps an adventure tour?

If you go somewhere what do you do? Crash on a beach with a good book and lots of suntan lotion? Learn about the local culture? Maybe try something new - take up scuba diving, snorkeling or hang gliding?

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your response.

What do you do when you travel to a country, what will you look to experience while in India?

"For me,my perfect get-away is right in my
backyard.I love to be spend time out on the land
with my family. As a matter of fact,we're in the plans
of taking a trip out there this weekend.
We stay/sleep in canvas tents, heated by wood,
usually drift wood. There's nothing like roughing it
and,I do mean roughin it.We travel on sleds made of
plywood and lumber. The weekend looks like it'll be
a warm one.The animals are everywhere right now..
makes for good hunting as we take the animals for
subsistance purposes only.I wouldn't want to be
anywhere else at this time of the year.
A beautiful country indeed."

Well mixing with locals is big on my agenda ,

no matter where I go ,that is number one . I don't do the laying

on the beach thing although I did have a fab holiday in Turkey

doing just that (sometimes) so that can be nice too ,each to his own .

I am not some sort of armchair anthrpologist , in that I mean I

like to experience the culture first hand and like to travel

to different places ,hence my love for Canada , it is vast ,beautiful and most areas are different . For example NFLD

is so very different not only in micro culture bur macro also.

My trip to India is not exactly planned but that me . I go where
my nose takes me and I wing it.

Of course this holiday (when i can go) is going to be frought
with issues that I haven't encountered ,language being one of

them .Though I was in Turkey ,I was with my boyfriend and six

others ,however this time (India) I will travel on my own ,so it will be interesting .

So in sumary for me the perfect holiday is 1) culture 2) food

3) travelling around .

be a chalange, English is spoken there

Polar, that would be an experience. Although I wouldn't eat any of the meat - I'm sure I could keep myself busy with my camera.

Livinglarge,

I've never travelled anywhere that English may or may not be spoken. Never mind travelling there on your own. What an adventure!

I'm not one for laying on a beach either. I'd rather be out doing stuff, camera in hand. Not a big shopper other than maybe for a token T-shirt. I would be the one learning to ride an elephant or swimming with the manta rays (depending where I am).

Enjoy your trip!

Well I have travelled in Canada on my own ans it has been some of

the best experiences of my life.

I have to admit I do shop .Little local arts and crafts . I normally buy something for my kitchen and have been known to

come back from my hols with a spatula ectlaugh

I love travelling on my own and to be honest perfer to do that.

It is lovely to have company ,thats true ,but I make friends whilst abroad and thats a buzz. I stay in inexpensive hostels

and meet the loveliest of folk .

I started to travel on my own in 2006 and never looked back.

I will have to get injections for India , they can be expensive
but are worth it. Its not in the bag yet (the holiday ,that is)

but I am working towards making it happen this summer .

Confession time - I have been sighted in local arts and crafts stores, laugh , but I don't really count that as shopping.

I like travelling in Canada too, and there are parts of it that I have not seen yet.

Not a problem in assuming I had not travelled to some areas in Canada - I certainly have not seen it all.

I would love to travel to Scotland, Ireland and England.

For me it would be taking the horses on a pack trip, preferably in mountains, but anywhere I can get away from the crowd.
