yah and the effen bank,finance ,morgage co doesnt get their hands too far into your pockets for the next 25 years. up in fort mc,murray you need a 40 yr morgage

It still requires a lot of expensive materials (from what I see confused ) if done on this level, but it's truly exciting to work on it.

toranoga: I have landscaped several of those MCCrap pseudo-mansions and the upkeep on them post 5 years will be quite expensive. We have a lot of old barns and farm houses around here that can be had for tearing them down and there is a lot of good dimension lumber in many of them. Recycled is both green and of better quality than most new lumber.
that's an understatement...they used to use heart wood for those old timber frames...and it would be a sin to use them for anything other than taking them down and moving them to another location and putting them back together...those old timber frame "barns" had more craftsmanship in them than ten new house, put together, today...i love timber framesthumbs up

naaa, don't be...i don't know if i could take a winter in a place where you can throw boiling water into the air, and it not hit the ground without being frozen...and if the wind's blowing, it'll just blow away like snowwow uh oh

Laura/jlw: glad to find others that are interested in some alternative housing...Being from Vancouver, I love the climate here. But the cost of living is outrageous. It gets better as one looks further north, and away from the coast. If this works, I've attached one more file....temporary accomodations while we all find what we're looking for. lol
