No problem with the other one, just that it's not really going to end up being any constructive discussion there.
I think.

Of course it won't. He never really intended it to. He just a chain yanker, bored and with nothing else to do. He did his little mess and sat back and had a good laugh about it, watching people flailing about trying to answer him. He's as transparent as a piece of plastic wrap.laugh

Well the truth is this, both men and women are here for a reason, they both have strengths and weaknesses. I admire men for their strengths but as for that dude their is a big difference between being Superior and just being an arrogant jerk.wine

gingerb: Women, if they but knew it, were always not only equal but superior in many ways, to men. Not in the issues that people think of it today, but it the most basic natural ways. They are responsible for the continuing of the species. Without a woman's consent there would be no future generations. Men chase, but women choose.

There was more to respond to there, but if I may begin with this.
I’ve always had a… not problem… but could never understand this argument?
Yes, women give birth.
But you might as well say that if it wasn’t for men’s consent there would be no future generations.
There is no superior here. As far as future generations, there are none whichever you remove from the equation.

You could be right there, except for one thing, drive........

Men, in general, tend to get passionate to the point of killing, certainly fighting,(rutting stag syndrome), vying for the attentions of women......

Though to be fair there are cases to be made for the biological clock urging women in that direction too....though generally not so much......

Honestly, nobody is inferior to anyone else. Yes, some have subjugated others into believing that they were, but the reality is that none of us are either inferior or superior. Oh, some might have superior strength in comparison to others, or intelligence, or wealth...but that doesn't make them superior beings.

That's ok in theory, but in fact, (as today's world acepts it), men are in a position of superiority on nearly every level, due to generations of very careful planning. This about who calls the shots, who has the money, the power, the clout. Think about how many women inhabit council or government seats in relation to men....... Who owns the banks, the armies, science labs,,,,,

Tell me there is no superiority then.......

Not out to nitpick, but I would deduct intelligence.
That is such a difficult subject.

Einstein could come up with the most amazing things within physics, and became very rich, but asked what the cost of a car was, he had no clue.

One guy can be very smart in the New York stock market business and know everything there is about macro economics, but he would not have a clue what to do if the whole market went bust and he was all of a sudden out on the street, while another guy living a blue collar life could be so street smart and sharp with words that he could trick himself all the way up to that same stock market room, without education.

There are so many varieties of intelligence, and so difficult to compare them.

I do think that feeling inferior is tied in with the way the world is run and who has power. There is no getting away from that.

To believe that you are equal to others and act accordingly is to place yourself outside of society. It is not acceptable to act that way, not if you do it on all levels.

I could give personal examples here but for personal reasons I won't.

The woman who wants to do the work and get the same pay as a man, cannot do so. (Unless she works for herself, and even then she has to interact with, and make deals with men). She either works harder or has worse working conditions or less benefits. That is how it is. How is she to not feel inferior in those conditions?

A man who elects to stay home and take care of his kids in an equal way as a parent is up against it right from the start. He is labelled, looked at with scepticism. How is he not to feel inferior?

Then there is the ocnditioning of children right from birth........girls in pink and boys in blue, dolls for girls and tanks and guns for boys. Polite behavoiur for girls and boys having to be boystrous. The lists are really endless.

To uncondition people would take an upheaval of society as we know it. Conditioning and tradition play too big a part for that to happen, so inferiority reigns in perpetuation.

To look at this on a completely differnt level, we are competative. Somebody has to win and someone has to lose, on every level. One will automatically feel superior, and one inferior. That is human and natural, instinctive even.

Everyone can't be good at everything. To not find something you are good at, or at least better than someone else at, is to court inferiority complexes. To take away hope is to court inferiority too.

Mostly though, it is to know that you are not equal, in the way you are treated, or in your abilities, or in the chances you didn't make good on. That stems from thoughts and comparisons, leading to emotions that bring about inferiority complexes.

We are also conditioned to make those comparisons from birth.teddybear

Agreed, Captain. And though many don't see it this way, to me all of them are equal in value as well. Again, no inferiority or superiority in this area, either.

Well, yes, of course.
My examples in my first posts are about this, but on a more basic micro kind of level.

And I wouldn’t argue with what you say. Remember, though, that I’m trying to distinguish between FEELING inferior, and BEING inferior.
The title of that other thread, is plain wrong. Syntax Error, to say the least.

In response to: To believe that you are equal to others and act accordingly is to place yourself outside of society. It is not acceptable to act that way, not if you do it on all levels.

Here, I’m not sure I follow you. If you mean that it’s difficult to try and achieve being equal, Martin Luther King, Suffragette, Rosa Parks, etc, yes, they’ve gone through some tough stuff, but placing themselves outside society? I think they’ve bloody brought society to where it should be.
But that’s maybe just I misunderstanding bits of the words.

In response to: I could give personal examples here but for personal reasons I won't.

Unfair, she should feel it is unfair, never that she is inferior. The exact reason why she should have same pay, is because she is NOT inferior.

In response to: A man who elects to stay home and take care of his kids in an equal way as a parent is up against it right from the start. He is labelled, looked at with scepticism. How is he not to feel inferior?

Proud, he should feel proud and thankful that he has the chance to see his children grow up in a way none of our fathers had the chance to do. There is nothing inferior about a father taking care of his children. It doesn’t matter what he is or if he is labeled anything.
To stretch it, he could be labeled anything, he could be labeled p*dophile just as soon as he could be labeled inferior, because he stays home with his kids. Should he feel like a p*dophile?

No, men subjugated and controlled women for centuries, but that never made them superior. It made them feel superior, but did not in fact make that a reality, only a perception.

Are those people you mention superior to the craftswoman in Peru who makes and sells her own jewelry to feed her family? Not in my eyes.

I suppose it depends on how we tie in superiority with other things, for instance is a superior person a wealthier one, a more successful one, a happier one, (and how would you measure that happiness).?

You see, everything would have to be compared with something else, and something is bound to be found wanting, or inferior......

How would be define superiority then?

Well, see, what I'm thinking is, that between a woman and a man, between two humans, in its most basic sense, there is no inferior or superior, hence equal rights, hence equal value.

But bring in things as military rank, yes, you have someone superior in rank.
Someone of greater value for a banker, yes, Bill Gates is more interesting for the Cayman Island banks than Pedro the poor Bolivian miner.
Someone superior in knowledge, yes, probably the one who graduated with straight A's holds more knowledge than the one who failed
etc

But in value as a human, no.
